Toronto (+182) is hosting this game as the underdog against Boston (-195) and Vegas has put the Over/Under for this game at 9.5 runs. The odds for wagering on the game’s total sit at -110 for the over and -110 for the under. Bettors can also wager on the game’s spread with the runline odds sitting at Blue Jays +1.5 runs (-120) and Red Sox -1.5 runs (+100).

The Blue Jays are 42-50 SU and are 43-48 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 7.0 units for gamblers taking the moneyline and 9.3 units ATS. Toronto’s covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the total has gone under in four of those seven. The Red Sox, on the other hand, are 66-29 SU and 57-37 ATS. They’ve gained 23.4 units for moneyline bettors and 19.8 units ATS. Boston has covered the spread in each of its last seven games and the over has cashed in four of those seven.

Neither team has positioned itself as an obvious over/under bet this season. Red Sox games have a 45-46-3 over/under record thus far in 2018. The Blue Jays have an over/under record of 42-41-8.

The left-handed Ryan Borucki will get the start for the visiting Blue Jays. Borucki is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 16 strikeouts. He has yet to face the Red Sox this year and did not record a start against them in 2017, either.

The Red Sox are putting the ball in the hands of righty Rick Porcello (11-3, 3.58 ERA), who has 113 punchouts and 27 walks to his credit, as well as a WHIP of 1.17. Porcello is 1-0 with 14 strikeouts and a 3.29 ERA over two starts against Toronto this year.

Toronto’s pitching staff allowed 4.9 runs per game and its starters own a 4.95 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 8.03 K/9. The bullpen has managed an ERA of 3.93, along with a K-per-9 of 9.18.

The Blue Jays offense has slashed .237/.310/.419 on its way to 4.4 runs scored per game this year, including 3.6 runs per game against divisional foes and 4.2 per game over the team’s last five outings (1-4 SU).

Third baseman Yangervis Solarte and outfielder Kevin Pillar continue to lead Toronto’s hitters. Solarte is slashing .246/.304/.436 with 16 home runs, 48 RBIs and 42 runs scored, while Pillar has a .240 average with eight homers, 33 RBIs, 40 runs and 11 steals.

For the home team, Boston’s pitching staff has given up 3.7 runs per game overall in 2018. Its starters have an ERA of 3.70, a WHIP of 1.21 and a strikeouts-per-nine of 9.7. The bullpen has a 3.24 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9.6 K/9. In 42 divisional games, Red Sox starters have an ERA of 3.40 and the bullpen’s ERA is 3.90.

The Boston offense is putting up 5.4 runs per contest, including 5.1 per game against divisional foes and 6.0 per game over its last five. The team has a slash-line of .327/.387/.485 over its last five games and is 5-0 SU during that span.

The Red Sox batters have been led by J.D. Martinez and Andrew Benintendi. Martinez is slashing .329/.392/.644 with 28 home runs, 79 RBIs and 68 runs scored, while Benintendi’s line is .297/.380/.517 with 14 homers, 57 RBIs, 68 runs and 17 stolen bases.

The Blue Jays have gained 3.5 units and are 28-31 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher this year. The over has cashed in 29 of those games, as opposed to 26 that’ve hit the under against righty starters. On the other hand, the Red Sox have netted 0.3 units and are 12-11 ATS when facing a lefty starter. The over has hit in nine of those games, compared to 13 that went under the total.
