WWE NXT Recap: Hideo Itami vs. Lince Dorado

It was recently announced that the night before Survivor Series, NXT will have their next TakeOver special in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With Shinsuke Nakamura injured for a few weeks, we shift focus to the relatively lower card. Two huge matches are scheduled to take place tonight: Hideo Itami vs. Lince Dorado, and Liv Morgan vs. Asuka.

Opening Segment
To kick off NXT, General Manager William Regal is in the ring to remember the late, great, Dusty Rhodes. It has been a year since The American Dream passed away, and he was honored in NXT with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Regal announces that they are going to do the Tag Team Classic again this year, starting next week. The finals of the tournament will take place at NXT TakeOver: Toronto the night before Survivor Series.

Tye Dillinger vs. Angelo Dawkins
The Perfect 10 takes on The Curse of Greatness in this singles match that is important for both Superstars. Dawkins has pretty much lost every match he has been in, and Dillinger is already an established NXT star, so a win for Dawkins would be huge. Dillinger has been getting more television time as of late, so it is possible that he is finally getting the push he deserves.

After making the match look easy, Dillinger hits Angelo Dawkins with the Tye-breaker to pick up the win. Winner: Tye Dillinger

Right after the match, as Dillinger is heading to the entrance ramp, Bobby Roode appears behind him. Roode says that the #1 reason he came to NXT was to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Roode asks Dillinger to be his “perfectly glorious” tag team partner, and The Perfect 10 accepts.

The Ealy Brothers vs. The Revival
The Revival make their way down the entrance ramp, when Samoa Joe blasts past them and attacks the Ealy Brothers. Last week, Joe threatened to injure the entire NXT roster if he was not handed the NXT Championship, and it seems like he is keeping his promise. After the assault, Joe says that these are just the first two victims, and to give him Nakamura, of give him his championship.

Video Package
We get another video package highlighting the physique of Dan Matha, who is expected to debut in two weeks.

Mandy Rose vs. Ember Moon
Mandy Rose debuted in August, and became the new Eva Marie for Corey Graves. Ember Moon also debuted in August, at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, where she defeated Billie Kay. While both Mandy Rose and Ember Moon are very new to the NXT roster, Moon has arguably made more of an impact with her impressive in-ring arsenal.

While Mandy Rose gives a great performance that no one expected, Ember Moon would come out the victor after the spinning top rope stunner. Winner: Ember Moon

The Authors of Pain (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Local Talent
If you have been watching Monday Night Raw for the past couple months, you know what happens when “Local Talent” appears in the match headline. Whoever the local wrestler face destroy them in rapid fashion, to boost their dominant reputation. Tonight, The Authors of Pain do the same. Winners: The Authors of Pain

Liv Morgan vs. Asuka
Liv Morgan did what everyone should do in the wrestling business: strive for the top. After getting a couple wins over Superstars like Aliyah, Morgan believes that she is ready to take on the undefeated NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka. Morgan might not know this, but she is not ready. Asuka has soundly defeated Nia Jax and Bayley (twice), and no offense to Liv Morgan, but she has quite some time before she is ready to take on Asuka.

Liv Morgan gives it her all, but Asuka immediately locks in an almost arrogant armbar to pick up a quick victory. Winner (via submission): Liv Morgan

After the match, Asuka is asked who is next on her list when she replies that no one is ready for Asuka.

Lince Dorado vs. Hideo Itami
The Cruiserweight Division is not only competing on Raw, but NXT as well. Cedric Alexander debuted last week, and tonight features the debut of Lince Dorado. Dorado made his Monday Night Raw debut this week as well, where he teamed up with Drew Gulak to take on Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann.

Itami rolls out of an incredible Shooting Star Press from Dorado, and finishes Dorado off with the Go to Sleep. Winner: Hideo Itami

After the match, Austin Aries rushes the ring and attacks Itami. Itami looks to strike back, but Aries escapes before he has a chance to get hit.
