WWE Smackdown Recap: Go-Home for Roadblock

On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw Dean Ambrose get laid out by the Wyatt Family, as well as Shane McMahon take out some security guards. Most importantly (and unexpectedly), we saw the debut of Sami Zayn, saving Neville from an attack by bitter rival Kevin Owens. Tonight’s episode of Thursday Night Smackdown features MizTV with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, as well as the main event match of Dean Ambrose teaming with the Usos and Dolph Ziggler to take on the Wyatt Family.

MizTV feat. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens
Sami Zayn is being interviewed by the Miz on Smackdown so that the casual audience, who might not watch NXT, can get a good idea of who Sami Zayn is, and why his feud with Kevin Owens is so heated.

Owens says that he powerbombed Sami Zayn onto the ring apron during Owens’s NXT debut so that he could better his career. Owens proves this point by noting that Sami Zayn was signed to WWE two years before Kevin Owens, but Kevin Owens debuted on Raw a year before Zayn did.

Zayn challenges Owens to the match, and Owens backs down. Making his way to the back, Owens is interrupted by Neville, who has some unfinished business with Owens. Zayn insults the Miz, and the Miz attacks him from behind. This segment leads to a tag team match between these four.

Neville & Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens & The Miz
This is the first time since Sami Zayn has debuted that he is in a match (if you don’t count his match with John Cena months ago in the U.S. Open Challenge), so hopefully he will be able to show off some of his impressive move set.

Side note: If you want to watch a match that shows what Sami Zayn can do, watch his 2-out-of-3-falls match from last night’s episode of NXT against Samoa Joe.

The Miz went to tag Kevin Owens, but Owens walks away from the match. Taking advantage, Sami Zayn hits an exploder suplex into the corner, followed up by a Helluva Kick to Miz for the win. Winners: Sami Zayn & Neville

Golden Truth Update
R-Truth is still trying, but Goldust denies a chance at being a tag team. There’s (probably) still hope.

Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae
On Monday Night Raw, Summer Rae defeated Brie Bella with a roll-up after Lana came down the entrance ramp and distracted Brie Bella. For the rematch tonight, Lana is sitting on the announce table (yes, “on,” not “at”) to join Byron Saxton, Jerry Lawler, and Mauro Ranallo on commentary.

After countering a pin from Summer Rae, Brie Bella locks in the Yes Lock for the win. Winner (via submission): Brie Bella

After the match, Brie Bella hits a downed Summer Rae with a running knee, then Lana enters the ring and hits Brie Bella with another Bella Buster, just like on Monday Night Raw.

In-ring Segment
Chris Jericho comes to the ring to explain why he turned on AJ Styles after their Tag Team Championship loss on Monday Night Raw. “AJ Styles is nothing. AJ Styles is a bum.”

After ranting about how the crowd keeps cheering for Styles, Chris Jericho gets a trash can and some lighter fluid, and burns a Y2AJ shirt as a symbol of the end of Y2AJ.

Lucha Dragons vs. Sheamus & Wade Barrett (w/Rusev)
I can not be more bored by the League of Nations, which is sad considering I enjoy Barrett and Rusev as solo competitors. The good news about this otherwise pointless match, is that Ryback is watching from the back, probably to further a United States title feud with Kalisto.

Wade Barrett hits a Bullhammer on Sin Cara, giving him and Sheamus momentum into their Tag Team Championship match against the New Day at Roadblock. Winners: Sheamus & Wade Barrett

The Wyatt Family vs. Dolph Ziggler, The Usos & Dean Ambrose
This Saturday on the WWE Network, Bray Wyatt takes on Brock Lesnar, where Lesnar hopes to get revenge after the Wyatts attacked him two months ago. Yep, nothing has been said about this match, but Lesnar is finally ready to get revenge from something that happened in January. Also at Roadblock, Dean Ambrose will challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Ambrose counters a powerbomb and hits Dirty Deeds on Erick Rowan for the win, ending this episode of Smackdown. Winners: Dolph Ziggler, The Usos, & Dean Ambrose
