2018 LPGA Volvik Championship Betting Odds & Preview

LPGA

The LPGA Tour shifts to the state of Michigan this week with a trip to the Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor for the LPGA Volvik Championship. This is the first of two tournaments that will be played in Michigan with the Meijer LPGA Classic to be held next month. A year ago, Shanshan Feng managed to hold on for the victory despite bogeying two of the final three holes. Feng ended up beating Minjee Lee and Sung Hyung Park by a single stroke. The defending tournament champion hasn’t won yet in 2018 but returns this week as one of the sports betting favorites to win here this year. We took a closer look at this week’s field in order to break down the best bets to win with selections among the favorites, those right behind the favorites in terms of the sports betting odds and the sleeper pick options. Here is a look at the best bets for this year’s LPGA Volvik Championship. Odds are courtesy of BetDSI Sportsbook.

Favorites

Ariya Jutanugarn +400

Jutanugarn is coming off her first win of the LPGA Tour season and should be a popular pick again this week based on the incredible numbers she has recorded this week. She has been the most consistent player on the PGA Tour this season as the overall leader in top-five finishes, top-10 finishes and total birdies. Jutanugarn now leads the LPGA in Official Earnings, The Race to the CME Globe and the Rolex Player of the Year Race. Nobody will be surprised if she wins again this week. The most dominant player on the LPGA Tour this season should be a popular sports betting pick to win the LPGA Volvik Championship.

Shanshan Feng +700

Feng is still looking for her first victory of 2018. However, as was the case with Jutanugarn last week, this could be the perfect opportunity for her to get that first win. The World No. 2 is the defending champion at this tournament and will be playing with a sense of urgency as she attempts to fight her way back to No. 1 in the rankings. Feng owns the 54-hole scoring record and the 72-hold scoring record in this championship. All signs point towards her contending for the outright win again at the LPGA Volvik Championship this week.

Next In Line

Sung Hyun Park +1100

Park shot a final round 66 here a year ago to push Feng to the limit before missing out on the win by a single stroke. What will she do for an encore this week? Park is coming off a victory in Texas and should feel very confident that she can contend for the win here after the way she finished this tournament a year ago. At +1100 odds, Park is an excellent betting option this week based on both potential and overall value.

Jessica Korda +1100

Korda hasn’t had a bad performance yet this season including two top-five finishes in her last four starts. She hasn’t won since opening the season with a victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand but all of the underlying statistics indicate that she could break through with another win in the very near future. At the same price as Park, Korda should be another popular betting pick this week.

Minjee Lee +1200

Like Park, Lee pushed Feng to the absolute finish here last year before settling for a runner-up finish by a single stroke. Now she gets the opportunity to pick up from where she left off. She can contend for the victory here this year. Lee has already registered five top-seven finishes this season so she has proven herself as a capable contender. Lee is available at decent enough odds that she should be another intriguing option this week.

Sleeper Picks

Nelly Korda +4000

The younger sister of Jessica Korda registered a top-10 finish at the LPGA Volvik Championship last year. Can she improve on that result this week? Nelly is still looking for her first career win but she has three top-15 finishes already this year so perhaps this is the week she finally breaks through and captures that elusive victory. At +4000 odds, the younger Korda is undoubtedly an intriguing sleeper pick this week.

Caroline Masson +4000

Masson is playing the best golf of her career heading in to this event including back-to-back T-7th results at the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship and the Kingsmill Championship in her last two starts. Does she have the tools to finally break through with her first win? The talent is certainly there and at +4000 there will definitely be some bettors willing to take a chance on her to contend for the outright win at the LPGA Volvik Championship this week.
