The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is scheduled to be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. As the premier men’s national team football competition on the continent, AFCON will bring together 24 teams from across Africa competing for the title of continental champion.

Morocco, selected as host after infrastructure improvements and enthusiasm shown through recent footballing initiatives, has previously hosted the tournament only once, in 1988. With venues across the country including stadiums in Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakesh, and Agadir, Morocco is aiming to provide both local fans and visiting supporters a memorable tournament experience.

The format of the competition remains unchanged from previous editions. The 24 qualified teams will be divided into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16. From there, the tournament will follow a knockout format culminating in the final scheduled for January 18, 2026.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the schedule and host cities earlier this year. Preparations have included upgrades to key stadiums and transportation networks, along with expanded accommodations to support the influx of fans, officials, and media.

Qualification for the tournament concluded earlier in 2025, with traditional powerhouses such as Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, and Cameroon joining the host nation. Several emerging teams, including Madagascar and Gambia, have also made the cut following strong qualifying campaigns.

Spectators around the world will be able to watch the tournament live through various broadcasting partners. CAF has confirmed agreements with multiple international networks, including national broadcasters across Africa and global sports channels. Official details about match tickets and their availability are expected to be announced closer to the tournament’s start date.

AFCON 2025 promises to deliver exciting football as teams compete for glory and fans come together to celebrate the rich culture and talent of African football.
