Did the problem with Antonio Brown’s feet originate with a cryotherapy machine? That’s the word from former NFL quarterback Chris Simms, now with NBC Sports, who received a tip that Brown had suffered frostbite on the bottom of his feet by not wearing the proper footwear inside the cryotherapy chamber.

Neither Brown nor his agent Drew Rosenhaus has commented on the claim. Brown is currently on the Oakland Raiders Non-Football Injury list because of the condition. According to head coach Jon Gruden, Brown is “gathering information” on his feet.

It certainly fits the narrative. Brown doesn’t appear in great pain over the foot issue, as the Instagram stories he shared with his fans show him smiling and holding up his peeling and blistered feet.

Frostbite is not an injury uncommon in the NFL. Back in 2016, Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor suffered the malady on his fingers after his team’s 10-9 playoff victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Brown has been treated by a specialist and is still considered day-to-day.

Nevin Lawson hit with four-game suspension

It’ll be a month into the regular season before the Raiders can kick the tires on their new starting cornerback. Free agent acquisition Nevin Lawson was nailed by the NFL’s performance enhancing drugs policy and will be forced to sit four games.

Oakland added Lawson on a one-year deal in March after the Detroit Lions cut him loose. Lawson took over a starting role with Detroit back in 2015 in his second season. Last year he started 14 games, played in 15 and recorded 53 tackles, three for a loss, one sack and five passes defended.

He was originally a fourth round pick out of Utah State in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Raiders had Lawson penciled in as their slot corner. With him on the sidelines, they’ll likely get a good, long look at second round pick Trayvon Mullen out of Clemson.
