Amercan Idol: Dim the Lights, It’s Top 10 Results!

American Idol

America voted on American Idol and the results are in. Tonight’s American Idol’s episode will tell us who will be in the Top 10. The way it works is simple — America determines 6 of the Top 10 and the judges determine the final four. Ryan Seacrest opens the show saying there is incredible news that will shake up the show tonight.

The Victory Zone on stage is reserved for the Top 10 and the Danger Zone is where the people singing for survival gets one of the four judges picks. There will still be 14 performances tonight. We get to the results almost immediately – no particular order. Maddie Poppe is called up first.

Maddie has made it into the Top 10. She continues by singing “Walk Like An Egyptian.” She has an awesome voice.

The next contestant is Michelle Sussett who Ryan tells Michelle she’s not in the Top 10, so she has to sing for a spot and she does so with an original “I’m a Dreamer.” Luke tells her it was a good job under the circumstances and that she’s star potential.

Marcio Donaldson makes his way to the stage to find out his results, telling Ryan “this is intense.” Marcio did not make the Top 10 yet, so he has to sing one more time and he chooses “Jealous.” I think this is more of his sound than something like Barry Manilow. He sounds pretty good. He looks so upset, but hopefully, that was enough to earn a spot. Luke says it wasn’t the strongest thing the judges have seen and he gets booed. Lionel tells him about how many times he’ll hear ‘no’ in his life and that this is a start of his career, not an end no matter what happens.

Cade Foehner is up next and he is in the Top 10. Hey Ryan, can you tell that the contestants are looking at the card? He sings “Bright Lights.”

Following Cade is Garrett Jacobs, my pick as the biggest underdog of the show.” Garrett is in the danger zone and must sing for his life, singing “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” by Credence. I still think he’s the underdog, but this is a nice song for his voice. I don’t think it’s the best song choice for him, but we’ll see if it’s enough. Luke really liked the song choice and told him he was pitchy at the end, but that he stated his case well. Katy agrees with Luke but said it was the best he ever sounded.

After the break, Gabby Barrett gets the news that she also made the Top 10 and is singing “Little Red Wagon.” She is having a blast with this song and I love her performance.

Dennis Lorenzo is up next and he has not made it into the Top 10, so he’s singing “This Woman’s Work,” to stay alive. Luke says he’s going to fight for Dennis and that he has shown every style of singing and did a great job.

The big news is revealed that starting next Tuesday American Idol is the first competition show in history to watch and vote at the same time. No waiting for California to watch three hours later. Wow, that’s interesting.

Johnny Brett, of course, is trying to read over Ryan’s shoulder and he has not made it into the Top 10. He’s singing Demons. I like his voice with this song, but I’m not drawn into his singing. Luke says that it was a perfect song choice for him and Katy said he’s grown leaps and bounds.

Finding out backstage that he made it into the Top 10 is Caleb Lee Hutchinson. Singing and having fun with “Getting You Home,” and man I can’t wait for this kid’s first album.

Vying for another spot are five contestants left and Ryan takes Mara to the stage with him for her results. Mara is not in the Top 10 so she has to sing “Love on the Brain” and this girl can saaaang. She, in my opinion, is one of the best singers in the competition, so we’ll see if she gets one of the four seats left. Luke says he’s in shock that America didn’t vote her through but she did a great job. Katy said the same and said that all things have to align. Lionel tells her it’s not just singing and it’s the package — performing vocal package and that he doesn’t know what’s wrong with America.

Jurnee is up next and she looks like she’s ready to throw up. LOL Ryn tells Jurnee that she did not make it to the Top 10. Seriously America? this girl is amazing. Singing “Never Enough,” from The Greatest Showman. Dang, I love this song.

Michael J. Woodward is up next and Ryan tells him he made the Top 10. he’s singing “Believe in Yourself,” from The Wiz. Down to the final two — Ada and Katey — vying for the last Top 10 spot. Katey Turner gets the final Top 10 spot for now and Ada sings for the judges pick. I’m so happy for Katey. She’s singing Havana and she has such a great voice.

During the commercial, the crowd was chanting “Ada!” She’s singing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.” I love her. She’s no Jennifer Hudson, but she nailed it. The judges make an executive decision and put Ada to the Top 10.

Who else get the final three seats?

Jurnee

Michelle Sussett
Dennis Lorenzo

Wow, the only one I got right on those three was Jurnee.

That’s it. The Top 10 is decided!
