It was the first time he had pitched in the Major Leagues since 2012 and it had been a decade since he had pitched for the Marlins. His former catcher, Mike Redmond is now the manager of the Marlins. “It’s been a long time,” Penny said. “I’m lucky to get another opportunity to pitch at this level.” It is quite a story for a pitcher to return to a team after 10 years and then get a win in his first start. “He was the same guy out there, for sure. Just a little bigger in that jersey.” Redmond said. Penny was 48-42 with the Marlins from 2000-2004.
Series Notes
The Diamondbacks have had quite a bit of success in this series recently, winning seven of the last 10 meetings with three of the last four going under. They took two of three at home last month. They are also a very impressive 8-2 in the last 10 in Miami with the last two going under.
