The Best Potential Landing Spots For Star Wide Receiver Tyjon Lindsey

Five-star recruit Tyjon Lindsey has been one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the country over the past couple of years. He hasn’t made his decision yet but recently narrowed down his list of potential options to 10 schools. Lindsey is rated No. 5 in the nation at his position and would provide a major boost for whatever team managed to land him. What would be the best fit for the player? Here is a look at the four best potential landing spots for Lindsey.

Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes landed one of the best recruiting classes in the country for 2016 and would be an excellent fit for Lindsey. Ohio State hosted Lindsey in March and he admitted afterward that the staff there made him feel extremely comfortable while he was on campus. Lindsey has family in Ohio and his grandfather graduated from OSU back in 1968. More importantly, the Buckeyes are loaded with talent on both sides of the football. Ohio State would give Lindsey the best chance to perform at a high level and display his talents while helping them to contend for both a Big Ten title and national championship. The Buckeyes appear to be the best potential fit with everything that Lindsey would want from a college football program.

The challenge with the Buckeyes is that wide receivers don’t necessarily shine in Urban Meyer’s offenses. Yes, they are important but not as valuable as the running backs. If Lindsey wants to win, Ohio State is a good option. If he wants to be in a place where wideouts are in the spotlight a little bit more, he’s better off choosing a different destination.

USC Trojans

If Ohio State is at the top of Lindsey’s list, then USC should be a close second. The Trojans also hosted Lindsey and have reportedly been the team that has been the most in contact with him over the past couple of months. USC has everything that Lindsey would want in a football program but the one issue could be the potential logjam of talent that they have at the position. The Trojans have signed four of the top 30 wide receivers in the 2016 composite rankings and Lindsey would be another name on that list. There is no talent that his talent would push him to the top of the list at USC but the potential is there for him to be wary about the young talent the Trojans have already stockpiled at wide receiver. This is a better landing spot for him in terms of his NFL stock.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon might be the best fit as an alternative to USC should Lindsey decide that he wants to takes his talents to the Pac-12. The Ducks stumbled for the first time in years last season but they have reloaded with another strong class for 2016 and could definitely give Lindsey another lucrative offer. Oregon can certainly help its case by challenging for a Pac-12 title this season and it will be interesting to see if Lindsey will consider the Ducks as another strong potential suitor with Ohio State and USC both in the mix.

Texas A&M Aggies

There is a strong link between Lindsey and his Bishop Gorman high school teammate and quarterback Tate Martell with the two sharing a bond that they have both said is about a lot more than just football. Martell committed to Texas A&M last August and that could be a strong fit for both of them if Lindsey decides that is where he wants to end up. Martell was pretty blunt when he said that the two would pick the same school and with Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray both transferring this past offseason there would be room for him to get immediate reps as a freshman with the Aggies. The question now is whether or not Lindsey sees A&M as a better fit than Ohio State, USC and Oregon with Martell’s presence obviously a major part of that equation.
