Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie said she is eager to welcome Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna to Brighton & Hove Albion after the winger completed a move to the English Premier League club, according to ESPN. Nnadozie, currently in Nigeria following back-to-back friendly wins over Senegal, described Yohanna’s arrival as special.
When she first saw the news, Nnadozie told ESPN she was “really happy” for Yohanna and noted his difficult journey to the top levels of the game. She added that having another Nigerian at the club is particularly pleasing.
Nnadozie also highlighted Brighton’s regular cross-team activities that bring together players from the women’s and men’s squads. She said those bonding sessions often pair players by country of origin, making it easier for teammates from the same nation to connect.
Yohanna signed a five-year contract with Brighton after leaving Swedish side AIK Stockholm. Brighton reportedly beat interest from Newcastle United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and other European clubs to secure one of Africa’s most highly rated youngsters. The teenager said he picked Brighton because of the club’s reputation for developing young talent and the pathway it provides for emerging players, and manager Fabian Hurzeler described Yohanna as a creative player who can make an impact in the final third.
According to ESPN, Nnadozie joined Brighton Women from Paris FC in June 2025 and has been a key figure since her arrival. The 25-year-old three-time CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year kept six clean sheets in 19 WSL appearances as Brighton finished seventh, and she was named in the WSL Team of the Season while retaining the Nigeria first-choice goalkeeper role.
Nnadozie said she plans to help Yohanna settle on the south coast when she returns to England. She noted they are based in the same compound and promised to show him around, take him to restaurants and assist however he needs, according to ESPN.
