DI Council supports the ideas of the Transformation Committee

On Wednesday, the Division I Council approved a number of suggestions aimed at providing student-athletes with improved assistance, enhancing the effectiveness and speed of the infractions procedure, and enhancing the transparency of the transfer process. The suggestions, which were created by the Transformation Committee, will be presented to the Division I Board of Directors for consideration next month.

If the board accepts the recommendations, schools would be given the authority to support student-athletes in a variety of ways without requesting waivers, such as by paying for items that will help a student pursue their academic goals, buying various types of insurance, and paying for participation in elite-level training, tryouts, and competition. The usage of a public dashboard for all types of violations was also increased by the Council. These proposals will become binding terms if the Board of Directors approves them next month.
