The DI Football Oversight Committee suggests modifying the recruiting schedule

The FBS and FCS football recruiting calendars should be changed, according to legislation that was submitted to the Division I Council on Thursday by the Division I Football Oversight Committee. Changes would take effect right away in Division I if they were accepted by the Council at its virtual meeting on October 27.

The idea calls for a four-day review period to start on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and a four-day dead period to start on the following Monday. Additionally, the current seven-day quiet time prior to the commencement of the second academic term of a school will be replaced with a standard five-day period. The new quiet time will start on the Wednesday before the first Saturday in January for potential student-athletes from two- and four-year colleges who plan to enroll in the middle of the year.

The suggested modifications are meant to standardize the dates of the quiet period at the start of the calendar year and provide student-athletes and coaches a chance to discuss potential involvement.
