MLB Picks: Lohse vs. Wainwright on Thursday on MLB Network as the Milwaukee Brewers face the St. Louis Cardinals

MLB Betting:  The Milwaukee Brewers visit the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday in a game that can be seen on MLB Network.  The pitching matchup is expected to be a pivotal matchup as Kyle Lohse goes for the Brewers while Adam Wainwright starts for the Cardinals.  It is a critical series for the Brewers as they look to stay in the playoff race in the National League.  Here is a look at Thursday’s game and MLB picks.

Probable Pitchers – Lohse vs. Wainwright

Kyle Lohse is 12-9 on the season with a 3.81 ERA.  He was dealing with an ankle injury that caused him to miss a start and seemed to impact his delivery.  He looks to be recovered now as he was solid last time out against the Reds as he allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings. His numbers in his last three starts are poor but you have to take his ankle injury into account when you look at those statistics. He has struggled in his career against the Cardinals with a 3-7 record and a 5.12 ERA.

Adam Wainwright got his 18th win of the season last time out as he allowed just one run on six hits against Colorado.  Wainwright had a tough stretch in August that he said was because of a dead arm.  He seems to be fine now and that makes the Cardinals worth considering in this contest.  Wainwright is now 18-9 on the season with a 2.56 ERA.

Game Notes

This is the finale of a three-game series between the teams.  The Cardinals had won seven of the last 10 before this series began with the last three going over. The Cardinals had won six of the last ten at home with five of the last six going over. This game on Thursday is the third game in a 9-game road trip that will decide whether or not the Brewers make the playoffs.

MLB Picks

The pitching edge is with the Cardinals with Wainwright against Lohse so we’ll look for St. Louis to get this win on Thursday and for the game to stay under the MLB betting total.
