The NCAA-record unbeaten streak for North Texas women’s soccer ends

The 65-game home conference match winning streak for the North Texas women’s soccer team, which began in 2008, came to an end on Sunday as the Mean Green fell to Florida Atlantic 1-0. An NCAA Women’s Soccer DI record, the winning streak in conference games at home. The Owls (5-3-2, 1-0-0) scored in the seventh minute after the Mean Green (5-4-1, 1-1-0) failed to clear a ball out of their six-yard box.

UNT’s defense held FAU’s offensive at bay despite the early goal, as they only managed four shots throughout the whole game. North Texas’ assault, which entered Sunday with a three-goal average per game, struggled to obtain clear shots as the game went on. Summer Brown’s goal in the 80th minute appeared to have given the Mean Green the equalizer, but it was disallowed for offsides. In the last moments, Taylor Tufts attempted to make a shot, but she was unsuccessful.
