NCAAF Pick: With QB Dak Prescott triggering their attack head coach Dan Millen and the Mississippi State Bulldogs have emerged as a bona fide national title contender and a popular betting choice. Despite their loss at top ranked Alabama, the Bulldogs can still make the first ever Final Four playoff with a win over their hated arch rival on Saturday. The Ole Miss Rebels are flaming out fast after a hot start and have proven to be not yet ready for prime time.

The Ole Miss Rebels will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Vaught Hemmingway Stadium with coverage on CBS starting at 3:30 PM ET. Mississippi State opened as a one point favorite.

Rebels Freeze Down the Stretch

Ole Miss is 8-3 straight up, 6-4-1 against the spread, and 2-8 under the total. Head coach Hugh Freeze has built a defense that ranks tops in the nation for points allowed but his offense has slipped to rank 57th in the nation for scoring. Ole Miss has failed to get the money in their last four games and has lost three of those four games straight up. Quarterback Bo Wallace has a 150.9 QB rating and a 22-10 TD-INT ratio. Ole Miss is coming off a 30-0 loss at Arkansas last week.

Hail State!

Mississippi State is 10-1 SU, 7-4 ATS, and 5-6 under the total. The Bulldogs are coming off a 51-0 Senior Day home payout over Vanderbilt. Mississippi State ranks 10th in the nation for total offense and 11th for scoring defense. Prescott has a 153.5 QB rating with a 23-10 TD-INT ratio. He is also the Bulldogs’ second leading ball carrier with 891 yards rushing and 5.2 yards per carry with 12 TD’s. Josh Robinson leads State with 1084 rushing yards, 6.6 yards per carry, and 11 TD’s. Head coach Dan Mullen has gone from the hot seat to become one of the hottest coaching prospects in the land.

Our Pick

Mississippi State has emerged into an outstanding road value with seven payouts in their last nine away matchups. The Bulldogs have gone under the total in six out of their last 10 away games.

Ole Miss has been a solid home betting value with 12 payouts in their last 18 games at Vaught Hemmingway Stadium. The Rebels have gone under the total in four out of their last six home games.

The Bulldogs have controlled the cashier’s cage recently in their head to head series with Ole Miss. Mississippi State has covered the spread in four out of their last five games with Ole Miss with three out of the last four meetings between the Bulldogs and Rebels going under the total.

We’ll call for Mississippi State and under the total in the biggest Egg Bowl matchup in history.
