American Idol Odds-favorite Contestant Eliminated!

American Idol

Tonight’s American Idol show was jam-packed with performances, judging and eliminations.

This week’s competition had the contestants singing their best Disney songs. America voted throughout the performances and by the end of the show the Top 7 were announced and three were eliminated. So, how did your favorites do and, and who, in shocking fashion went home?

Let’s start with what the odds were for this week:

NFL MLB Sports Betting

Ada Vox +150
Gabby Barrett +250
Jurnee +400
Catie Turner +600
Cade Foehner +750
Caleb Lee Hutchinson +1000
Michael J. Woodward +1250
Maddie Poppe +2000
Dennis Lorenzo +3000
Michelle Sussett +3500

As you can see, Ada Vox was favored to win the competition (as of this week). Let’s see what they sang this week:

Catie Turner – Once Upon a Dream (Sleeping Beauty)
Jurnee – How Far I’ll Go by Auli’i Cravalho/Alessia Cara (Moana)
Cade Foehner – Kiss the Girl (The Little Mermaid)
Ada Vox – Circle of Life by Elton John (Lion King)
Michelle Sussett – Remember Me (Coco)
Gabby Barrett – Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas)
Michael J. Woodard – Beauty and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast)
Caleb Lee Hutchinson – You’ve Got a Friend in Me (Toy Story) (more below)

Dennis Lorenzo – Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John (Lion King)
Maddie Poppe – The Bare Necessities (Jungle Book)

I don’t quite understand the fairness of this week’s voting. Did the first singer (Maddie) get more time with votes than the last singer (Dennis)? Did they only have a time frame for which voters could vote? It seriously is an odd way of handling the voting and I don’t understand why American Idol changed to this format versus staying with their familiar format. If anything, they could have announced the results at the beginning of the next episode, then did the next set of performances. But, hey, I’m not in charge of the show.

All of the performers did a nice job, but some stood out more than others. Caleb’s rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” was easy and fun. Catie Turner is, in my opinion, flawless. She has a phenomenal voice and I love seeing her progress each week. Finally, I thought that Gabby’s ‘Colors of the Wind,’ was amazing and to me, she’s the one to watch as the dark horse that can just steal this entire competition from any of the other Top 7.

Speaking of Top 7, who made it?
Catie Turner
Jurnee
Cade Foehner
Gabby Barrett
Michael Woodward
Caleb Lee Hutchinson
Maddie Poppe

So tonight we said goodbye to Dennis, Michelle and, the number one odds-favored contestant, Ada Fox. Fox was eliminated in the live voting despite being the favorite to win this competition at BetDSI Sportsbook last week. So, based on who’s left, how do I think they will do?

Caleb Lee Hutchinson
Maddie Poppe
Catie Turner
Cade Foehner
Gabby Barrett
Michael Woodward
Jurnee

And her are the updated American Idol Betting Odds  (courtesy of BetDSI.eu Sportsbook) for this week:

Gabby Barrett +200
Cade Foehner +650
Catie Turner +750
Maddie Poppe +1200
Caleb Lee Hutchinson +1200
Jurnee +1500
Michael J. Woodward +2000
