Sabathia Makes History, Scherzer Dominates and More

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The stars were out in full force across Major League Baseball on Wednesday. Max Scherzer struck out 10 Phillies — with a black eye. CC Sabathia helped the Yankees sweep the Rays — and won his 250th career game. Mike Trout hit a bomb of a home run — and then did it again, with the bases loaded. The Reds swept the Astros (yes, really), and the Padres won another wild game. It’s all part of social media Wednesday in baseball.

One of baseball’s notoriously tough guys got a little tougher on Wednesday. The result was not good for the Phillies, but it sure was for social media accounts.

Congrats to CC Sabathia, who notched career victory No. 250 and got plenty of love from his teammates.

A walk-off win and a sweep of the (previously) best team in baseball? That’s worth some social celebration for the Reds.

Mike Trout hit one loooong home run, and then another one for a grand slam. Total tally: 7 RBIs.

After their wild weekend in Colorado, the Padres did it again Wednesday, using a couple of late rallies to subdue the Brewers 8-7. Then … Manny Machado wore some fashion-forward pants.
