Tampa Bay Lightning at Montreal Canadiens Odds

Tampa Bay (-130) is currently favored over Montreal (+110), and the Over/Under (O/U) is set at an even 6 goals (-120 to bet the under, +100 for the over). After originally posting at -110 for either, those O/U odds have shifted.

Tampa Bay is 8-4 straight up (SU) and has earned moneyline bettors 1.3 units this season. Through 12 regular season contests, seven of its games have gone under the total, while five have gone over and none have pushed. As an away team this season, the Bolts are 3-2 SU.

The Lightning have converted on 27.9 percent of their power play chances so far. That’s a nice improvement from last year, when they were ranked fourth in the league by scoring on 24.8 percent of their extra-man opportunities. Their penalty kill has also gotten stronger since last year, as they’ve gone from successfully defending 75.9 percent of opponents’ power plays (ranked 28th overall last year) to 93.3 percent this year..

Boasting a .930 save percentage and 28.0 saves per game, Andrei Vasilevskiy (6-3-1) has been the best option in goal for Tampa Bay this year. If it decides to give him a rest, however, head coach Jon Cooper might go with Louis Domingue (2-1), who has a .887 save percentage and 4.00 goals against average this year.

Over on the other bench, Montreal is 7-5 straight up (SU) and has earned 3.9 units for moneyline bettors this year. Six of its games have gone under the total, while five have gone over and just one has pushed. It’s 5-2 SU as the home team thus far.

The Canadiens have converted on just 15.6 percent of their power play chances this season, a mark that’s right around league average. On the other hand, its penalty kill is ranked 18th overall, and it’s successfully killed off 78.0 percent of all penalties.

Carey Price has stopped 24.7 shots per game as the top selection in goal for the Canadiens. Price has five wins, four losses, and two OT losses and has registered a 2.43 goals against average and a fairly-weak .910 save percentage this year.
