UFC 200 Main Card Odds Review For July 9

UFC 200 Main Card Odds

UFC 200 Main Card Odds – The UFC 200 is at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with their latest PPV event this Saturday, July 9th.

The main event of the card is the Light Heavyweight title showdown between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. The storyline behind this rematch is long, and Cormier is an underdog for this one despite being the current beltholder.

This is the UFC’s biggest show ever, and the Jones – Cormier 2 match is the headliner for a reason. Jones is a fallen former champion who was stripped of his belt for a myriad of out of the octagon issues and Cormier won the belt while Jones was suspended. Further exasperating the situation is that Jones last outing was a strong win over Cormier. No one had ever made Cormier work so hard or look that bad in a fight, and it was a dominant win for Jones. Fast forward six months later, and Cormier had won the vacant belt, but he had none of the respect a champion usually gets.

The return of Jones must go down as the most highly anticipated return in UFC history this side of undercard fighter Brock Lesnar, who returns to the UFC after a five-year hiatus. Jones has been linked to the heavyweight division, but he recently revealed plans to stay at 205 lbs and compete for several matches. Should Jones win, you can look for the UFC to try and put together a second match with Alexander Gustafsson. If Cormier is able to make a competitive fight out of it, then there could potentially be a 3rd meeting between the two as well.

Almost as anticipated is the Featherweight bout between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar. This is also a rematch as the two first met in Edgar’s initial drop down to 145 lbs and though he fought well against Aldo, he took the loss with the judges. Now, the interim title is on the line and also a future showdown with Conor McGregor. The stakes have never been higher for either man. Aldo was a long time dominant champion at Featherweight before losing to McGregor, and he has been steadily trying to work his way back into a rematch. As for Edgar, he has been passed over several times for major fights at 145 lbs and he has been doing nothing but winning since the Aldo loss.

Also on the card is women’s 135 lb titlist Meisha Tate as she makes her first title defense against Amanda Nunes. This is the belt that Ronda Rousey held and famously lost to Holly Holm. Tate earned the belt by beating Holm, and she has been hanging around at the highest level of the sport for many years, but it does feel like a bit of a letdown after the Rousey years.
