UFC Fight Night 83 Odds For Sunday Feb 21st

UFC Fight Night 83 Odds

UFC Fight Night 83 Odds – The UFC rolls into the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas this Sunday with Fight Night 83.

The main event features popular Donald Cerrone as he makes his move up to the welterweight division to face Brazil’s Alex Oliveira. The match comes with a unique twist, as both men use the nickname “Cowboy”. The rhetoric has been cliche filled, as the welterweight division is not big enough for two “Cowboys”.

Cerrone is a proven draw and is one of the UFC’s most popular fighters. He had a torrid eight fight winning streak snapped in his last outing, when he lost to Rafael Dos Anjos in a fight for the UFC Lightweight title. Cerrone is 28-7 in his career, and he has never lost two fights in a row.  The Dos Anjos fight was on December 19th, so in typical Cerrone fashion, he is returning on short notice.

Like Cerrone, Oliveira has stayed very active, going 3-1 in 2015. He has won three fights in a row since dropping his UFC debut and is 13-3-1 overall. Oliveira also has a history at 155 lbs, so Cerrone is not making ther jump in weight class against a huge welter in his first fight. For Oliveira, this is a huge step-up in the level of competition for him, and a win would instantly up his profile. For Cerrone, a loss would be a huge setback as he tries to establish himself in a new weight class. Cerrone has stated that the weight cut to 155 lbs has been a drain, and at 32 years of age, it was time to move to welterweight.

The co-feature fight comes at Middleweight as rising Derek Brunson (14-3) takes on veteran Roan Carneiro (20-9). Carneiro beat Mark Munoz a year ago to make his return to the UFC.  Brunson is 5-1 in the UFC overall and he won both of his fights in 2015.

The bantamweight division sees a clash of undefeated prospect as Augusto Mendes (5-0) takes on Cody Garbrandt (7-0). Garbrandt is already 2-0 in the UFC while Mendes is making his UFC debut.

In a battle of veterans at 145 lbs, Japan’s Tatsuya Kawajiri (35-8-2) faces Dennis Bermudez (14-5). Kawajiri has won a pair of fights in a row in the UFC and is 3-1 overall in the big show. Bermudez is entering his 5th year with the UFC, but he had a seven fight winning streak snapped and now has lost two in a row.
