Wisconsin volleyball sets a record for NCAA attendance

The University of Wisconsin volleyball team had a record-breaking evening, but there was no happy ending. With 16,833 spectators in attendance, the Badgers broke the NCAA regular-season attendance record while playing in the Kohl Center for the first time in 24 years. However, Florida emerged from the arena with a 3-2 triumph that was propelled by a strong start and a comeback in the fifth set.

With the victory, the Gators, who are currently 9-2 and are rated 16th in the US by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, improved their record. Wisconsin, which was ranked fourth, dropped to 5-2 and had their four-match winning run end. There were 2 hours and 41 minutes throughout the game.

What a unique atmosphere, said to Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield. “Our guys will remember this night forever at some time in the future. We’ve grown to expect Badger supporters to be able to watch us play while being seated the entire time, supporting us when we need it. It was just a pretty unique setting.”
