205 Live Recap: Enzo & Neville Face to Face

Photo from WWE.com

Tonight, 205 Live is continuing the nice groove that it is in by focusing on developing stories as well as the Cruiserweight Championship match between Neville and Enzo Amore at No Mercy. Cedric Alexander gets a rematch against The Brian Kendrick, Rich Swann is scheduled to face Lince Dorado, Akira Tozawa squares off against Noam Dar, and there is a face-to-face between Neville and Amore.

Cedric Alexander vs. The Brian Kendrick
No, this isn’t a rerun of last week’s episode. Cedric Alexander and The Brian Kendrick squared off last week in a pretty good match (as expected) until things got out of control and Jack Gallagher actually attacked Alexander to join forces with Kendrick. Now, Alexander has a chance to score a legitimate win over the Man with a Plan.

Kendrick attempts the Sliced Bread No. 2, but Alexander slips out of it. Kendrick then goes for an O’Connor roll, but Alexander’s momentum rolls him through and gives him a pinfall of his own. After the match, Kendrick distracts Alexander on the entrance ramp long enough for Gentleman Jack Gallagher to attack him from behind. Both men assault Alexander until Gallagher finishes him off with a headbutt. Winner: Cedric Alexander

Dasha Fuentes catches both men backstage and asks Gallagher to explain his recent actions. Gallagher says that he could either be nice or be a winner, so he chose to be a winner. He said that he does not mind walking around with scars, but he does not want to be a joke. He believes that Cedric Alexander will start to think the same way he does, too.

Akira Tozawa vs. Noam Dar
Before this match gets underway, Drew Gulak makes his way to the announce table to be a guest commentator for this match. Gulak has been trying to show off his 277 slide long Powerpoint Presentation but every time he does, he gets interrupted. Gulak gets to move on to Slide #6, which forbids cell phones at all times. As he is explaining this, Tozawa shows up for his match and Gulak is forced to take a seat.

One small misstep from Dar opens him up to a spinning kick from Tozawa. Tozawa then climbs the top rope and lands the Senton Bomb to score the victory. As Tozawa celebrates, he stares down Gulak. Winner: Akira Tozawa

Rich Swann vs. Lince Dorado
In the locker room, Rich Swann is approached by TJP, who wants to have another rematch after losing to his friend last week. Swann says that he thinks that after facing each other for weeks, they should move on, like how Swann is facing Lince Dorado tonight.

Swann is in the ring ready for his match when footage on the Titantron shows that Dorado was attacked backstage. Swann starts heading to the back to check on Dorado when he gets attacked from out of nowhere by TJP. TJP then rips one of Swann’s dreads out of his head before finishing the assault near the entrance ramp. It appears that TJP still is not over the fact that Swann has the edge on him and he is probably the person to attack Dorado. Result: No Contest

Neville & Enzo Amore Go Face to Face
This is the last time that Neville and Enzo Amore can get the WWE Universe excited for their Cruiserweight Championship clash at No Mercy and they do a pretty good job here. Neville treats Amore like a joke, using his record of in-ring failure as evidence that this should be a cakewalk for the King of the Cruiserweights. He even points out that the underhanded tactics used to get Amore to the title match will not get him the championship.

Amore agrees with Neville that he is inferior when it comes to in-ring work, but he also claims that Neville is jealous of the Certified G. Even though Neville may be one of the best wrestlers in the world, Amore lives up to the term “Superstar.” He sells merchandise constantly, the fans love him, and he has celebrity friends. Neville points out that none of those will help him this Sunday and Amore agrees yet again. Since it is not No Mercy, Amore ends the show by hitting Neville with a low blow.
