For now, retired NCAA coach Urban Meyer’s future job status has not been much of a topic for discussion. However, the Dallas Cowboys’ head coaching position has been in the news. While owner Jerry Jones says publicly that Jason Garrett has nothing to worry about, some may see right through that smoke-screen.

On Friday, Meyer was on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, and he addressed what Dallas Cowboys’ organization; and possible future open head coaching spot.

Urban Meyer on ⁦@TheHerd⁩: Anyone offered the Cowboys coaching job would have to consider it.

“That’s the one. Great city. They got Dak Prescott, Zeke Elliott. You got a loaded team…The one job in pro football that you say, ‘I got to go do that.’” https://t.co/7ZLDbMylyp

Here’s a full video:

After saying they’re like the New York Yankees, and saying he has not been called by the Cowboys; here’s what Meyer had to say.

“That’s the one. Great city. They got Dak Prescott, Zeke Elliott. You got a loaded team…The one job in pro football that you say, ‘I got to go do that.’”

Cowherd asks if the Cowboys would call, would he spend a few days with them about the position?

“I would, yes.”

Therefore, the seed has now been planted. That’s all it takes for an owner like Jones to have a name like Meyer on his radar. Of course, when we last saw Meyer; he was riding off into the sunset after another successful tenure coaching the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Meyer has never coached at the NFL level, but is one of the biggest names on the market for any head coaching job. That is, if he decides he wants to coach again. Perhaps a better question to close this column with is what are the percentage odds that Meyer coaches again? If we know that, we know the likelihood of his name being involved with a team like the Dallas Cowboys in a realistic sense.
