Baseball Picks: Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees on Sunday Afternoon on TBS

Baseball Odds:  The New York Yankees host the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon in a game that will be televised by TBS.  The Royals are battling with the Detroit Tigers for the lead in the AL Central while the Yankees are trying to stay in Wild Card contention. It is getting to the point where nearly every game is a must-win for the Yankees.  Here is a look at Sunday’s matchup and baseball picks.

Probable Pitchers – Yordano Ventura vs. Shane Greene

The Royals got a good effort last time out from Ventura as he allowed just two earned runs in a win over Texas.  Ventura is 11-9 on the season with a 3.38 ERA.  There is still some concern about the work level for Ventura who was actually rested for a start with a sore back before the win over the Rangers. He went just 6.1 innings against Texas. In his last three starts, Ventura is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA.

The roof fell in on Shane Greene last time out as he was shelled by the Boston Red Sox.  He went just 2.2 innings and allowed six runs. It was a rare bad outing for Greene who had been solid for New York. Even with the bad outing, Green is still 5-2 on the season with a 3.88 ERA.

Royals at Yankees Series

These teams played in KC back in June for a three game set and it was the Royals winning two of three. They also played a makeup game in August and it was the Yankees winning 8-1 in KC.  They normally play one series in New York each season. Last year it was the Yankees taking two of three with two of the games going over. Both teams have struggled to score runs this season so this series in New York could see some low scoring contests.

Baseball Picks

Neither of these teams can score runs and even though the pitching matchup is not a great one with Ventura against Greene, we’ll look for the game to stay under the baseball betting total.
