Examining Unwritten Rules, Red Sox Keep Struggling and More

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The news dominating Major League Baseball is all about yesterday’s brawl between the White Sox and Royals, in which Chicago’s Tim Anderson got ejected, even though he was the one being thrown at. It’s causing plenty of controversy around baseball. Speaking of controversy, the Red Sox continue to struggle and David Price has a suggestion for MLB to improve Jackie Robinson Day.

Major League Baseball’s slogan this year is “Let the kids play,” and yet, when Tim Anderson has a little fun with teammates after a home run, he gets thrown at and eventually ejected. What gives?

It’s getting late early for the Red Sox, who are 6-13 and have a big series with red-hot Tampa Bay up next.

Red Sox starter David Price raises another good point: If players wear No. 42 on Jackie Robinson Day to honor the Dodgers’ trail-blazing legend, shouldn’t all teams play on April 15?

Speaking of the Dodgers, they got a home run from A.J. Pollock on Wednesday, meaning they’ve gone 32 consecutive games at Dodger Stadium with at least one round-tripper. That’s a record.

Joey Votto’s famous swing yesterday, meanwhile, didn’t quite have that distance. He popped out to first base for the first time … ever.
