Hansi Flick is close to extending his contract with Barcelona after his agent, Pini Zahavi, met with club president Joan Laporta in Barcelona to finalise details, according to ESPN sources. The report says Zahavi’s visit focused on the futures of both Flick and striker Robert Lewandowski, and that Flick is set to sign a one-year extension with an option for a further season.
Flick, 61, remains under contract with Barça until June 2027 and, per the report, could complete and announce his new agreement in the coming days while Zahavi is in the city. The German coach is in his second season at the Camp Nou and has previously said he intends to remain, describing this phase as the final stage of his career and indicating he felt positive about a renewal, according to ESPN.
Per the report, Flick guided Barcelona to a domestic treble — LaLiga, the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Supercopa — and the club are on the verge of defending their LaLiga crown, with the title potentially being decided against arch‑rivals Real Madrid on the weekend.
Zahavi’s meeting also addressed Lewandowski’s situation, ESPN reports. The club views the Polish forward’s future as uncertain ahead of his free agency this summer and would prefer him to stay another season in a reduced role if he agrees to lower his salary. Laporta said at the time that if offers arrive from Saudi Arabia or other places the club would see what the player wanted, but that he would like Lewandowski to continue for another year, per the report. The report notes Lewandowski has 18 goals and four assists in 42 appearances and will turn 38 in August.
The ESPN report reiterates that the proposed Flick deal is a one‑year extension with an option for an additional season, and that an official announcement could follow shortly if terms are finalised.
