John Fox Criticizes the Bears’ Summer and the Saints Look to Keep Michael Thomas in New Orleans

After years of being an NFL head coach, John Fox made the move to television last year. Fox had coached the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Chicago Bears from 2002 to 2017, but like many of his contemporaries, he traded the grind of the NFL for a comfortable spot as an analyst. On Monday afternoon, Fox had some harsh words for the Bears and how they have handled the offseason, and he has been roundly criticized for having it both ways. Fox questioned the Bears for problems that he ostensibly created, so now he is being questioned by the media.

The New Orleans Saints have been busy trying to keep their core intact this offseason. They signed defensive end Cameron Jordan to a long-term extension last week, and GM Mickey Loomis and HC Sean Payton now have their attention set on locking up Michael Thomas. Thomas is set to make just $1.6 million this season, so he is in line for a major pay raise.

Josh McCown announced his retirement from the NFL yesterday, and there have been some touching posts from players and teams alike. We have seen clips of McCown playing slot receiver in a game for the Detroit Lions back in 2006, and there has been unanimous praise that he was one of the best teammates in the league. McCown was largely a back-up quarterback and mentor during his time in the league.

Everyone has World Cup fever, and Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is afflicted more than most of us. His wife, midfielder Julie Ertz, is one of the stars of the team, so he is in France to watch the United States attempt to defend their title. Ertz knocked in the United States’ second goal against Chile on Sunday in a 3-0 win for the USWNT. Maybe some of his teammates will join him for Thursday’s match with Sweden.
