Miami Hurricanes at Virginia Cavaliers Betting Prediction

The last time the Hurricanes played, they were defeated by the No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies, 82-70. Virginia Tech’s effective field goal percentage was their biggest advantage over Miami. The Hokies had a rate of 0.676 (above their season average of 0.593), while the Hurricanes posted a mark of 0.518. Miami’s Anthony Lawrence II had a good performance, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds.

The Cavaliers won a close one over the No. 23 North Carolina State Wolfpack in their last matchup, 66-65. The Cavaliers held the Wolfpack to an effective field goal percentage of 0.398 (below their season average of 0.557) and had a free throw rate of 0.269 (above their season average of 0.238). With 12 points, six rebounds and six assists, Virginia’s Ty Jerome had a solid game.

The sweet-shooting offense of Virginia (30th in the country with an effective field goal percentage 0.553) will battle against the porous defense of Miami (265th in effective field goal percentage allowed 0.521). The Cavaliers should have the edge on that side of the ball. Additionally, the Hurricanes, who rank 262nd in offensive rebounding percentage (26.0 percent), will square off against the Cavaliers, who rank 49th in defensive rebounding percentage (75.1 percent).

After the Cavaliers won the only contest against the Hurricanes last season, 59-50, these teams will clash for the first time this year. The Cavaliers had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (30.8 vs. 20.0) and had a better effective field goal percentage (0.521 vs. 0.447).
