MLB Betting:  The Toronto Blue Jays are favored on Friday night as they host the New York Yankees in a game that can be seen on MLB Network.  Both of these teams are fighting to stay in the AL Wild Card race so this is a huge series that begins on Friday.  The Blue Jays are favored but you can make a case for the underdog in this contest as Yankees have owned Toronto starter Mark Buehrle in his career.  Here is a look at the matchup and MLB predictions.

New York Yankees Pitching

The Yankees continue to piece together a pitching staff with a bunch of castoffs and no names.  Chris Capuano should get the call on Friday and he has been solid this season for New York.  The Yankees are just 20th in team ERA at 3.85 but they have found a way to stay in most games.  Their hitting is nothing special as they are 21st in runs per game. It is really surprising that the team is even in the playoff picture based on these numbers.

Toronto Blue Jays Pitching

Mark Buehrle should get the ball on Thursday for Toronto. He would probably rather get skipped over in this series considering he has struggled in his career against the Yankees. He went 6.1 innings last time out against the Rays and allowed three runs and eight hits. Even though he pitched okay, it was still just his first quality start since late July. Buehrle’s overall numbers have him at 11-8 with a 3.41 ERA.

Yankees Own Buehrle

Just how bad is it for Buehrle when he faces the Yankees?  His teams are 2-17 the last 19 times he has been on the mound against New York. The last three games he has pitched against New York have gone over.

Game Notes

The Yankees have won six of the last ten in this series with six of the last eight going over. It has been a home team series though as the Blue Jays have taken six of the last ten in Toronto.

MLB Predictions

This is a good spot to take the road team so we’ll look for the Yankees to win this game and for it to go over the total.
