Team Norway released a series of photos last week showing the national squad dressed in Viking battle regalia as the country prepares for the 2026 World Cup, courtesy of photographer David Yarrow.
The images depict players on a beach in front of three Viking longships, styled similarly to the vessels historical raiders might have used on the coast of England during the early Middle Ages. Swords and shields are prominent elements of the shoot.
Northern star Erling Haaland received his own solo portrait in the series, pictured wielding a sword and shield with his long hair unbound. The prolific Manchester City forward scored 27 goals and added eight assists in 34 starts in the 2025-26 season.
Norge opens its World Cup campaign against Iraq on June 16 at 6 p.m. ET. The team is drawn into Group I, where it will also face France and Senegal.
The photographic release follows Norway’s build-up to the tournament and highlights a cultural motif tied to the nation’s history as the squad heads into its World Cup schedule.
