Golf Undigested Podcast – Episode 57

Golf Undigested

The Golf Undigested Podcast with Clark Burroughs, a former PGA Tour player and proud Ohio State Buckeye, dishes out his latest news and musings in the world of golf. For all the latest golf odds and predictions, never miss an episode of Burroughs’ insightful advice and hilarious observations into the greatest game of all, GOLF!

Burroughs starts Podcast #57 by taking us through the action at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide where Jason Dufner won despite a third round 77.
Dufner opened up a three shot lead after back-to-back 65’s and appeared to be on his way, but a third round 77 left him four shots behind third round leader Daniel Summerhays. He steadied the ship, stayed poised, fired a final round 68 to win by three strokes.

This week is the second major of the year, the 117th U.S. Open where World No. 1 Dustin Johnson is the betting favorite. The usual suspects are leading the betting frenzy at the top; Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm and Justin Rose are receiving the most action, while Kevin Kisner and Austrian Bernd Wiesberger are the biggest movers.

Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record stands at 68-43-7 for the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.

The European Tour, LPGA Tour and PGA Champions Tour are all off this week.

PICKS to WIN

Kevin Kisner +6500 is playing solid golf with a win and a T7 in his last two starts. He’s rested and ready to go. The former Georgia Bulldog is a late bloomer but can not be overlooked on a venue that will test every facet of a player’s game. Kisner has the patience and the right attitude to excel on the biggest stage.

Italy’s Francesco Molinari +8000 seems to play well week after week on both sides of the pond. Not many people know that he’s the No. 16 ranked player in the world. Molinari is a bulldog that never lets anything bother him. He goes about his business, plays his own game and churns out top finishes wherever he plays. At +8000, he offers gamers the best value on the board.

WILL STEVE STRICKER MAKE THE CUT?

YES -150
NO +120

This line opened up at Stricker +200 to make the cut and has moved all the way to -150. The savvy gamer got the +200 and although it’s not a winner, the golf gods have to be looking down on the Wisconsin native and give him a few breaks in his home state. He’s played the course several times, he hits it straight and has one of the best putting strokes on the planet.
Stricker can still play and will easily make the cut and could contend!

LOWEST 18-HOLE SCORE

OVER 66 +135
UNDER 66 -175

Like I said in the above prop, the fescue rough is as high as I’ve seen it in any previous U.S. Open. Kevin Na posted a video and threw a ball three yards into the fescue and could barely find it. Then he tried to hit it and lost the ball. It’s like at least a one stroke penalty, maybe two and I don’t see anyone shooting lower than 66 all week long. Go against the public, take the plus money and take the OVER 66.

Burroughs wraps up #57 by discussing his latest adventures on the golf course that included seeing a guy shoot his age. Yes, Bobby Eils is 72 years old and shot 72, amazing! Our host leaves us with a tip to sharpen up your putting stroke.
