Manchester United are considering a surprise move for Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn, according to The Sun. The 30-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by Nottingham Forest.
Gunn’s standing reportedly improved after being selected as Scotland’s No. 1 at the FIFA World Cup. United are expected to overhaul their goalkeeping department this summer, with André Onana and Altay Bayindir facing uncertain futures.
The goalkeeper is viewed as an experienced option, and his previous connection with Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox from Manchester City’s academy could aid any potential deal, The Sun adds.
Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand is also attracting Premier League interest. Initial reports state United and Arsenal are eyeing the Denmark international, while A Bola says Arsenal and Manchester City are monitoring his development in Portugal. Hjulmand is reported to be a childhood Arsenal fan and is regarded as an important figure for Sporting.
A Bola reports that a move to Serie A looks increasingly unlikely for Hjulmand, with Inter Milan and Napoli described as the only realistic Italian options. Premier League interest is expected to intensify as clubs shape recruitment plans for the summer.
Other linked moves in the market include Chelsea opening talks with Crystal Palace over defender Maxence Lacroix, according to Fabrizio Romano. TalkSPORT says Bruno Fernandes is set to remain at Manchester United despite renewed interest from the Saudi Pro League, and Football Insider reports West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen is open to a move to Everton, with initial contact reportedly made.
