NCAA Football News: Ohio State Blows Out Northwestern In Rare Friday Night Appearance

What did you do on Friday night? While you were having a good time, the fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes blew out the Northwestern Wildcats at Ryan Field by a score of 52-3.

Equally important, I have lived in Columbus, Ohio my entire life. Friday night was the first time in my life I can ever remember the Buckeyes playing on a Friday night in my 36 years. That said, they seemed right at home in dismantling the Wildcats.

Quarterback Justin Fields threw four touchdowns, and J.K. Dobbins ran for 121 yards. Notably, in what should have been a close Big-Ten conference game; it seemed more like a tune-up for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Now, the Buckeyes are ranked only behind Alabama, LSU, and Clemson.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said that coming out of the bye week helped.

“I think we feel good about the way we came out coming off the bye week — with energy, starting fresh and just refocused on all the things that matter within the program,” coach Ryan Day said. “Now we know we have a huge challenge next week. … We know what we have in store there, so it’s gonna be a really tough week, tough preparation, tough game, but I know the kids are gonna be excited to play it.”

Without question, some bettors who decided to take Northwestern and the 27.5 point spread at open may be regretting the decision this morning. Furthermore – a rested Buckeyes squad showed how dangerous they can be – even on the road.

It looks like Ohio State is headed towards an NCAA playoff appearance as long as they continue to take care of business down the stretch. Soon, the team will face Penn State and Michigan; which is always the true test that defines an Ohio State season.
