Wyndham Clark continued his strong run, firing a 69 on Friday and establishing a 36-hole record for a U.S. Open at Shinnecock, according to tournament reports.
Clark was not yet fully clear of the field, as Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick remained close behind and continued to pressure the lead, tournament reports said.
The final group was scheduled to tee off at 3:45 p.m. ET for Saturday’s third round.
