Arizona State Sun Devils at Oregon Ducks Betting Preview

Arizona State is the road underdog in this Pac-12 game and is currently being given 4 points. The Sun Devils are also receiving +165 moneyline odds while the Ducks are -185. Vegas has determined the over/under (O/U) to be 63 points. It appears that there should be some good live betting possibilities for this game.

The Sun Devils have gained 2.2 units so far and are 6-4 against the spread (ATS). The team has posted an Over-Under record of 5-5. The Ducks have lost 3.0 units for moneyline bettors this season. They’re 4-6 ATS and also own an even O/U record of 5-5.

The Sun Devils have gone 6-4 straight up (SU), including 4-3 SU against conference opponents. The Ducks are 6-4 SU overall and 3-4 SU in conference play.

The Sun Devils are coming off a 31-28 win over UCLA last week where Manny Wilkins completed 16 passes on 22 attempts for 199 yards, along with a TD and an interception. Eno Benjamin (182 yards on 34 rush attempts, one TD) and the signal-caller Wilkins (60 yards on 14 carries, two TDs) led the ground attack in the win. N’Keal Harry (seven receptions, 100 yards) and Kyle Williams (three catches, 53 yards) shared the receiving duties.

On November 10, Utah knocked off this Oregon crew by a score of 32-25. The Ducks defense allowed the Utes to kill the clock by rushing for 232 yards on 47 attempts, including two rush TDs. Armand Shyne put up a productive showing in the win for Utah, accounting for 174 rushing yards on 26 attempts. For Oregon, Justin Herbert completed 20-of-33 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. CJ Verdell (28 rushing yards on 11 attempts) and the signal-caller Herbert (24 yards on 10 carries) spearheaded the ground attack in the defeat as Dillon Mitchell (eight receptions, 169 yards, two TDs) and Brenden Schooler (four catches, 43 yards) led the pass-catching corps.

Arizona State has run the ball on 56.4 percent of its offensive plays this year, including 62.1 percent across possessions in conference play. Oregon has a run percentage of 54.2 percent, and has rushed the ball 51.5 percent of the time against Pac-12 opponents. The Sun Devils have run for 195 yards per game (including 229 per game versus Pac-12 opponents) and have 20 touchdowns via handoffs this year. The Ducks are logging 172 rush yards per game (153 in conference) and have 20 total rushing TDs.

The Sun Devils offensive scheme has averaged 245 yards in the air overall (213 per game against conference opposition) and has 16 passing scores so far. The Ducks have recorded 268 pass yards per contest (258.4 against Pac-12 foes) and have 25 total pass TDs.

Arizona State has allowed opponents to run for an average of 153 yards and throw for 232 yards per game. The Oregon defense has given up 250.5 yards per game to opposing passers and 152.1 yards per game to opposing runners. Both teams allow similar adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) to the opposition, as the Sun Devils have given up an ANY/A of 6.41 to opposing QBs, while the Ducks are allowing an ANY/A of 6.05.

Offensively, Wilkins is up to 2,164 passing yards this year. He’s connected on 64 percent of his 275 attempts with 13 scores through the air and only three interceptions. Wilkins has a 7.80 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 9.87 over the last two games.

Justin Herbert has completed 175-of-293 passes for 2,357 yards, 23 TDs and six INTs for Oregon. His ANY/A sits at 7.91 for the season and 9.07 over his last two games.

When these two teams faced one another last year, Arizona State earned the win 37-35.
