Lawler vs Dos Anjos Odds For Saturday UFC Action

Lawler vs Dos Anjos Odds

Lawler vs Dos Anjos Odds – It is a clash of former UFC champions in the main event Saturday as Robbie Lawler faces Rafael Dos Anjos. The UFC on FOX 26 comes to us live from Winnipeg, Canada with twelve fights in all, five of which will air on the FOX broadcast.

The main event sees two fighters that are not willing to stop competing at the highest level just yet. Lawler had a strong title run at welterweight, losing the belt to Tyrone Woodley in July of last year. Lawler took a year off to rest and he came back this past July with a UD win over “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone.

Dos Anjos was the 155 pound title holder but he lost the belt via KO to Eddie Alvarez. He tried a bounce back fight in the lightweight division against number one contender Tony Ferguson and he lost that one as well. The second loss in the division told Dos Anjos he could no longer handle cutting weight to 155 pounds and he has gone 2-0 in the 170 pound weight class since.

One thing to remember about Lawler – he did just fine operating in the 185 pound middleweight division. Lawler liked fighting in the higher weight class because the weight cut to 170 pounds is tough. In other words, Lawler is a massive welterweight and he is naturally the bigger man heading into this one. Remember, Dos anjos struggle to make 255 while Lawler struggles to make 170. If Lawler has lost a half step however, he could be in trouble against Dos Anjos, who remains quick and athletic.

Dos Anjos is a pitbull and his mindset help make him a tough out for anyone. He has the advantage on the ground in that Lawler is not a technical ground fighter who can apply varied submissions. Dos Anjos has been down against Eddie Alvarez, a slugger to be sure, but a much smaller man than Lawler. Dos Anjos should invest a lot of energy in getting Lawler off of his feet and to the ground in this one.

The co-feature sees featherweights Ricardo Lamas and Josh Emmett square off in a three round bout. Lamas is 9-3 in the UFC with his losses coming to current champion Max Holloway, former champion Jose Aldo and perennial contender Chad Mendes. Meanwhile, Emmett has gone 3-1 in the UFC with all four of his fights going the distance against much lesser competition. Emmett is taking a major step u the ladder in this one.

Light heavyweight action sees former contender Glover Teixeira facing Misha Cirkunov. Cirkunov was 4-0 in the UFC before he was knocked out in less than 30 seconds by Volkan Oezdimir. You have to credit Cirkunov with guts as in Teixeira he is getting one of the toughest strikers to ever set foot in the weight class. Teixeira at 38 however, is 1-2  in his last three fights and appears to have lost something since his heyday.

Below are the odds for the main portion of the FOX broadcast. Check your local listings for start times.
