Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James didn’t believe the news when he found out Magic Johnson was resigning from his role as President of Basketball Operations, and James spoke about the matter publicly recently.
“My right hand comes to me and says, ‘Magic just stepped down,’ ” James said. “I’m like, ‘You mean from out of his car? Get the (expletive) out of my face.’… He’s like, ‘Go check your phone.’ ”
“No one had no idea,” James added. “We were like, ‘Damn, like right now?’ It was literally 70 minutes on the clock before (the game). I’m not playing, but my team is still playing, and you kind of decide to do that right here, right now. I feel like there’s a time and place for things, and I believe that you knew that you were going to make that decision, so why would you do it here and why would you do it now?”

Warriors know Curry will break out of slump | ESPN
The Golden State Warriors lost Game 3 of the Western Conference semis to the Houston Rockets in overtime, and Stephen Curry will want to quickly forget that game along with his unsuccessful dunk attempt, which became a viral joke.
“I think Steph has a good balance of beating himself up and just moving on with life,” Warriors forward Draymond Green said after the game. “And I think that’s important. It’s part of the reason he’s the shooter that he is. I think if you talk to anyone who plays basketball the toughest thing is to miss shots and keep shooting. Your confidence wavers, you start to think — Steph will miss four in a row and then heat check the fifth one. Like from 35 feet. I don’t know if that’s good or bad but it [works] for him. So I know he don’t make too much off it, as a competitor I know he’s pissed with himself and I think that will bode well for us. Probably it’s going to lead to some aggressiveness and we like when he’s aggressive so I think he’ll be fine.”

The Portland Trail Blazers recorded a historic Game 3 win over Denver Nuggets after four overtimes as Enes Kanter again played with a separated shoulder. He took an elbow to his chest and shoulder from Nikola Jokic during a box-out situation, and the officials clearly missed that moment, so the Turkish center decided to open their eyes if possible.
Terry Stotts wasn’t happy with it but Denver’s coach, Michael Malone, defended his All-Star Jokic. “I have known Nikola Jokic for four years,” Malone said. “He doesn’t have that kind of personality, he doesn’t have that DNA gene where he’s going to go out there and make non-basketball plays and try to hurt anybody or do anything that is beyond the limits of what is sportsmanship and what is not sportsmanship. So I would definitely not agree with Terry’s assessment.”

Raptors looking for more offense in pivotal Game 4 | NBA.com
The Toronto Raptors are desperate to avoid a loss in Game 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers and go 3-1 down. Even though it wouldn’t be the end of the world if they lose, that encounter could prove to be pivotal in the series.
Kyle Lowry must step up to offer more help to Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam who were the only noteworthy players in a heavy Game 3 defeat. Lowry is not the only one who needs to display a much better offensive performance but Marc Gasol was also disappointing and is expected to respond in Game 4.

D’Antoni: Tucker ‘wouldn’t let us lose’ in Game 3 | ESPN
The Houston Rockets beat the Warriors in Game 3 not only because of James Harden’s excellent offense but also because of PJ Tucker’s defensive heroics, as he limited Kevin Durant to 2-of-7 shooting in the final 15 minutes of the game, including overtime.
Mike D’Antoni was impressed with Tucker’s defense and leadership. “That’s who Tuck is,” D’Antoni said. “He’s a winner, and he wouldn’t let us lose.”
