Lionel Messi is widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players in the history of the sport. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has compiled an exceptional record of individual achievements, team success, and global recognition.

Messi began his professional career with FC Barcelona, joining the first team in 2004 at age 17. During his 17-year tenure at the club, he scored over 670 goals in official competitions, making him the all-time leading scorer for Barcelona. He also contributed more than 300 assists across all competitions. With the club, he won 10 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey trophies, and 4 UEFA Champions League titles.

Internationally, Messi represents Argentina and became a cornerstone of the national team. He has scored over 100 goals for Argentina, making him the country’s all-time leading scorer. After multiple near misses in major international tournaments, Messi led Argentina to Copa América victory in 2021 and followed that with a FIFA World Cup title in 2022. These accomplishments marked a defining period late in his international career.

Individually, Messi has won the Ballon d’Or multiple times, recognizing him as the best player in the world on several occasions. He also holds numerous other accolades, including Golden Shoes for being Europe’s top scorer in multiple seasons.

In 2021, Messi transferred to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he continued to perform at a high level, contributing goals and assists and winning league titles. In 2023, Messi made a move to Major League Soccer, joining Inter Miami CF, further expanding his influence on the sport globally.

Throughout his career, Messi has set records for the most goals in a calendar year, the most hat-tricks in La Liga, and the most assists in Spanish league history. His playing style—marked by extraordinary dribbling, vision, and finishing—has captivated fans worldwide and solidified his place among soccer legends.

Messi’s legacy is not measured solely by statistics and titles, but also by the consistency, professionalism, and sportsmanship he has displayed throughout his career. His impact on both club and international soccer is profound, and his achievements continue to inspire players and supporters around the world.
