The Colorado Rockies are prepared to battle against the San Diego Padres at Coors Field. The action gets underway at 8:40 p.m. ET and fans can catch the game on either ATRM or FSSD.

Oddsmakers are listing Colorado (+105) as the underdog to San Diego (-125). The total sits at 10.5 runs and bettors can wager on the over for -115 and the under for -105. Bettors can also wager on the game’s spread with the current runline odds sitting at +175 for the Padres +1.5 runs and -185 for the Rockies -1.5 runs.

The Rockies are 5-5 SU and 5-4 ATS. They’ve gained 0.8 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 1.9 units against the spread (ATS). Colorado has covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the total has gone under in three of those seven. The Padres are 2-8 SU and have gone 4-5 ATS. Overall, the team’s lost 3.6 units for gamblers taking the moneyline through the early part of the season and 3.0 units ATS. San Diego is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the under has cashed in three of those seven.

Colorado games have an over/under record of 5-3-1 so far in 2018. The Padres have an over/under record of 4-4-1.

The Padres have lost 2.6 units and are 3-3 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher this year. The over has cashed in two of those games, compared to three that’ve hit the under against lefty starters. On the other hand, the Rockies have lost 0.0 units and are 3-1 ATS when facing a left-handed starting pitcher. The over has hit in two of those games, as opposed to one that’ve cashed the under.

Clayton Richard (0-1, 4.50 ERA) will get the start for San Diego. The left-handed Richard started 32 games last year while finishing the season 8-15 overall with a 4.79 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. He made four starts against Colorado in 2017 and compiled a 2-2 record against the Rockies with a 6.75 ERA and 17 strikeouts.

The Rockies are turning to righty Jon Gray (1-1, 2.45 ERA), who struck out 112 hitters in 110 innings last year (20 starts). Gray finished the season 10-4 overall with a 3.67 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He made three starts against San Diego a year ago and put up a 2-0 record with a 2.65 ERA and 22 strikeouts.

As a unit, Colorado’s pitching staff has allowed 4.7 runs per game overall in 2018. Its starting pitching staff has a 4.76 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 7.4 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 4.38 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7.8 K/9. In seven divisional games, Rockies starters have an ERA of 4.15 and the bullpen’s ERA is 5.33.

The Colorado offense is putting up 3.7 runs per contest, including 2.8 per game over its last five. The team’s hit .214/.294/.321 over its last five matchups and is 3-2 SU during that stretch.

Right fielder Charlie Blackmon and second baseman DJ LeMahieu have led the Rockies’ hitters so far. Blackmon is slashing .278/.366/.667 with 10 hits, six RBIs and nine runs scored, and LeMahieu is batting .289 with 11 hits, four RBIs and five runs.

Blackmon performed well against left-handed pitching at home last season. In 114 such plate appearances, he slashed .412/.474/.745 (his overall season line was .331/.399/.601).

For the visiting squad, San Diego’s pitching staff allowed 4.2 runs per game and its starters own a 4.56 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 6.58 K/9. The bullpen has managed an outstanding ERA of just 2.06, along with a K-per-9 of 9.84.

The Padres offense has slashed .221/.295/.362 on its way to 3.0 runs scored per game in 2018, including over the team’s last five contests (1-4 SU).

San Diego’s offense has been led by shortstop Freddy Galvis and third baseman Christian Villanueva. Galvis is hitting .364/.475/.485 with 12 hits, five RBIs and two runs scored, while Villanueva (.240/.296/.680) is up to six hits, three homers, six RBIs and four runs scored.
