The Champions Tour will make its way back to Birmingham, Alabama and the Greystone Golf & Country Club for this week’s Region Tradition. Preceded by a celebrity pro-am on Wednesday, the real action gets underway on Thursday with a strong cast of contenders looking to earn their share of another impressive prize package. We took the time to break down this year’s field and identify some of the best betting options including the favorites to win and some smart sleeper picks. Here is a look at the best bets to win the Regions Tradition this week.

Past Five Winners

2017: Bernhard Langer

2016: Bernhard Langer

2015: Jeff Maggert

2014: Kenny Perry

2013: David Frost

The Favorites

Steve Stricker +200

Stricker’s insertion as the sports betting favorite to win the Regions Tradition is only surprising because Bernhard Langer has been so dominant at this tournament in the past. Still, Stricker deserves to be considered among the best bets to win as the second ranked golfer on the Champions tour behind only Langer. There is no doubt that Stricker will be motivated to take down his rival this week and end his reign of dominance at this event. Stricker’s +200 price tag is relatively short but he should still be a popular betting pick this week.

Bernhard Langer +500

It’s somewhat surprising that the two-time defending tournament champion isn’t at the very top of the list in terms of the sports betting favorites to win. However, Langer has absolutely dominated in Birmingham and should have an excellent shot to win once again this year. While a potential three-peat won’t be easy, Langer should be a popular sports betting pick once again this week.

Next In Line

Jerry Kelly +1400

Kelly is right behind Stricker and Langer in the Schwab Cup standings and he is also right behind them in terms of the sports betting favorites to win the Regions Tradition. Kelly ranks third in all-around statistics and he leads all golfers on the Champions tour this season with two tournament wins. He should be a solid betting pick to win outright this week.

Vijay Singh +1400

Singh is relatively new to the Champions tour but he continues to perform at a high level and he should be a popular sports betting option this week. Singh has all of the tools to contend for the outright win and he is still available at a decent price at +1400 odds

David Toms +1600

Toms is another golfer that is having an excellent season so far and there is no reason to expect him to slow down this week. Toms already has five top-five finishes to his name this week and ranks No. 5 in the Cup standings. Toms impressed here a year ago when he finished sixth. There is a very good chance he improves on that result and contends for the outright win this year.

Sleeper Picks

John Daly +12500

Daly has only played in six tournaments so far this season, which is a big reason why he is currently 52nd in the Cup standings. However, the fan favorite has the talent and desire to break through and this could be the week that it happens. At +12500 odds, Daly is a solid sleeper pick to win the Regions Tradition this week.

Mark Calcavecchia +15000

Calcavecchia is an excellent sleeper option this week for a number of reasons. First of all, he is on a strong run of late including a fifth-place finish and a 10th-place finish in his two most recent starts. Second, Calcavecchia is currently listed at +15000 odds to win this event outright. At such a long price, there is definitely some value putting a small amount of money down on this sleeper pick to win.
