6-Pack of Bats Your Fantasy Baseball Roster Needs Now
Geoff Burke - USA TODAY Sports

Jose Peraza and Jorge Soler were two of the most added fantasy players of the week heading into this week’s action. Looks like most of you listened to me – you’re welcome! There was also a swing and miss with Franchy Cordero, but I believe in the youngster’s talent. Here’s a look at this week’s must-adds to your respective roster by way of trade or waiver wire.

1B/OF Matt Adams (Washington Nationals) Though it’s been all or nothing for Adams since he started receiving more playing time, the all has very much so been worth it. This kid dropped 50-plus lbs. and got all tatted up. In doing so, he’s morphed into a premiere home run hitter and dramatically cut down on strikeouts. On top of that, he’s walked at a near even clip. He’s reached the cheap seats in four of his last six starts and will continue to see playing time. Ryan Zimmerman is nicked up and who knows when Adam Eaton will return. If you’re utility spot is as boring as Westworld, snag Adams and enjoy the fantasy goodness!

SS Brandon Crawford (San Francisco Giants) Crawford has no doubt been one of the streakier hitters over the course of his career. Right now, the dude is scorching hot having hit safely in five straight games. During that stretch, he’s launched one into the bleachers and knocked in 7 RBI. You could do a lot worse at your 2B/SS slot than BCraw, and he’s headed to the City of Brotherly Love for four games to kick off the week. He’s gone yard four times and plated 22 RBI lifetime at Citizens Bank Park!

3B/OF Jose Bautista (Atlanta Braves) At one point in time, Joey Bats was one of the most feared home run hitters in all of baseball. He’s now got three games under his belt as a member of the Braves, and just so happens to be hitting in the meat of a lineup that boasts Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuna and Freddie Freeman on top of it. He’s been batting fifth or sixth. You know what that means right? Numerous RBI chances equate to fantasy success. He’s playing with a chip on his shoulder after nobody wanted anything to do with him off one bad year. He could end up being the in-season free agent signing of the fantasy baseball season!

3B/SS Eduardo Escobar (Minnesota Twins) It’s possible we’re late to the party with Escobar who is now 69 percent owned after tearing it up of late. Nearly 50 percent of that action has been accrued over the last two weeks, so it’s possible he’s currently sitting on your fantasy wire. Over his last 12 games, Escobar hit safely in 11 of them, scored 12 runs, knocked in nine RBI and hit four home runs. He’s tied with the Blue Jays Kevin Pillar for the most doubles and only strikes out 20 percent of the time. If seeking a replacement for Corey Seager, Escobar’s your guy. Hopefully he’s available. If not, check out the watch list down below.

OF Marcell Ozuna (St. Louis Cardinals)There’s absolutely nothing I can say right now to back my claim of adding Ozuna to your fantasy roster. He’s been nothing short of dead weight batting .258 and getting on base at a .284 clip. That said, he’s a much better player than the one the city of St. Louis has taken in over the first five-plus weeks of the season. The weather is finally starting to turn, and with that, I expect his production to spike as well. Ozuna likes warm weather. Ozuna mashes baseballs in warm weather. See if his owner wants to let him go for pennies on the dollar. If so, get him on your roster!

SS/3B Alex Bregman (Houston Astros)The Astros are one of the best teams in the American League. They’ve gotten to this point by way of solid pitching with unforeseen Greek god-like efforts from Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton. The offense has been solid as well, but Bregman has played a limited role. After tearing it up at the tail end of last season to lead Houston to its first ever World Series title, Bregman has been a no show. That’s ultimately going to change. The kid is way too talented to continue stinking the joint up for his fantasy supporters. I’d send a flier over to his owner and see what it would take to pry him away. He was drafted in the fourth and fifth rounds, so if you can get away with sending over a two-for-one deal of mid to late round overachievers, you have my seal of approval.
