The CWTS American Ethanol 225 Preview

The American Ethanol 225 Gets Underway at Chicagoland Speedway on Friday Night.

The Camping World Truck Series will  return under the lights at Chicagoland Speedway for the American Ethanol 225. The event kicks off on Friday, September 16th at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen live on Fox Sports 1.

The American Ethanol 225 will be the last chance for a few select racers to try to win their way into the Camping World Truck Series playoffs that get underway next weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Daniel Hemric enters this contest with an opportunity to clinch a Chase birth on points and a little help from a fellow competitors. Hemric needs to earn at least 10 points and have the race crown a new winner in 2016. He also has the luxury of getting in if a repeat winner drives to Victory Lane, but still needs to acquire the 10 necessary points.

Obviously, the young talent could drive his way in if he takes the checkered flag in the American Ethanol 225. So far, Hemric has recorded 374 points and sits 305 points ahead of the 31st spot.

Timothy Peters can continue his bid for a championship if there is a repeat winner and he finds a way to gain two points during the event. He also is in if Daniel Hemric wins and he collects the two points he needs. In either situation, he needs to gain six points on Hemric if Hemric doesn’t win. Peters owns the tie-breaker between the two drivers.

All the scenarios could be put to bed if the Red Horse Racing phenom can capture his first win of the year. Timothy Peters has failed to win in 2016 and has amassed 350 points. He is 281 points ahead of the 31st spot in the field.

Cole Custer can move on with a little help. There has to be a repeat winner or a win by fellow competitor Daniel Hemric. Custer needs to finish 32 points in front of Timothy Peters. Custer owns the tie-breaker between himself and Peters.

The Hass/Automation driver should be fired up for this weekends event. He finished a bumper short of making the Chase in that wild finish in Canada. Cole Custer has also gathered in 318 points in 2016 and is 249 ahead of the 31st spot.

There are a few more drivers that can win their way into the playoffs on Saturday night in the American Ethanol 225. Many of the speedsters have been very competitive and stand a good chance to pull of a clutch performance in front of the Chicago fans.

Cameron Hayley and his #9 Toyota is in the Chase with a win. Tyler Reddick can complete his post season goal if he navigates his Cooper Standard Ford to Victory Lane. Rookie Ben Rhodes also has to cross the finish line in first after his accident two weeks ago. His 31st place finish really put a damper on his chances to get into the playoffs.

Spencer Gallagher can be Chase eligible if  his #23 Chevrolet is out in front when the checkered flag is waved. Rico Abreu, Austin Wayne Self, Travis Kvapil and Jordan Anderson finish off the list of racers that can receive a birth if they find a way to get their first triumph of the year.

Matt Tifft missed more than ten weeks of competitive racing following brain surgery. As a result, the Joe Gibbs Racing’s Xfinity stand-out will return for the American Ethanol 225 in the Camping World Truck Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Matt Tifft had the operation to cut out a low-grade giloma on July 1st. Joe Gibbs Racing discharged a statement at the time of the tumors discovery. They said that the slow-spreading cancer was found during an assessment for a disc problem in Tifft’s back.

Even though Matt Tifft will pilot a truck for Red Horse Racing, the plan is to have him back in an Xfinity Series car as soon as possible. The savvy youngster began the 2016 season driving the #18 NOS Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing.
