Brooklyn Nets vs. New Orleans Pelicans ATS Prediction

The Nets will be looking for a similar result after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in their last game, 102-86, as 2.5-point underdogs. The combined points for the game (188) finished well under the projected point total of 225.5. Brooklyn’s effective field goal percentage was their biggest strength over Cleveland. The Nets had a rate of 0.517 (below their season average of 0.553), while the Cavaliers posted a mark of 0.399 (below their season average of 0.496). Brooklyn was lifted by D’Angelo Russell, who was the game’s leading scorer with 18 points on 5-for-14 shooting.

In the Pelicans’ last matchup, they were victorious over the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-109, covering as 5.5-point favorites. The total points for the game (225) were under the projected point total of 237.5. The Pelicans had a much better turnover percentage (6.7 vs. 13.9) and had a better free throw rate (0.323 vs. 0.253). Anthony Davis was the top scorer from either team with 34 points on 11-for-21 shooting.

There could be plenty of transition offense in this meeting that features two of the league’s more up-and-down teams. New Orleans ranks second in possessions per game (103.5) and Brooklyn is fifth (101.3) dating back to the 2017-18 season.

The Nets are 30-56 straight up (SU) and 42-42-2 against the spread (ATS) since last season. It’s tough to find a trend for games featuring Brooklyn since last year in regards to the projected point total as there has been an even split between games finishing over and under.

The Pelicans, on the other hand, have records of 51-34 SU and 41-42-2 ATS since last season. New Orleans’ games have gone under the O/U total 52.9 percent of the time over that same period.

The Pelicans won both matchups against the Nets last season. In the most recent game, New Orleans won 138-128. One of New Orleans’ largest advantages was getting to the charity stripe. They had 39 free throw attempts, while Brooklyn had just 22.
