EPL Power Rankings For Round 12

EPL

There isn’t much movement in the English Premier League power rankings this week other than the favorites, Manchester City, opening an event larger gap over the field. Chelsea and Tottenham swap places as well, but the Manchester clubs continue to dominate. Also this week, the EPL teams will have Champions League and Europa League action to navigate as well.

Let’s take a look at this week’s EPL power rankings as the odds makers see the teams. As a reminder, the teams are rated as they appear in order of the betting odds (futures).

1. Manchester City

Last Week: 1

EPL Title Odds: -800

Manchester City remain atop the table after a 2-0 win at Leicester City, getting goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne. The biggest worry in this game for Manchester City was a hamstring injury for John Stones as they prepare to host Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday, and then they’ll visit Huddersfield Town on Sunday. Right now, it looks like the only thing that can stop Manchester City is their health and they’re going to get their depth test in the coming weeks. They are the team to beat and the odds makers are making that clear as they are already at -800.

2. Manchester United

Last Week: 2

EPL Title Odds: +1400

Manchester United stayed eight points behind their City rivals with a 4-1 win at home over Newcastle. Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku all scored for Manchester United, as did Paul Pogba, who returned from a hamstring injury. Manchester United also got a return from Zlatan Ibrahimovich, and they’re getting players back just in time for the busy holiday season. On Wednesday, they’ll head to Basel in the Champions League, and then Manchester United will host Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

3. Chelsea

Last Week: 4

EPL Title Odds: +2000

Chelsea is third in the table after a 4-0 rout at West Brom in which Eden Hazard scored a pair of goals, while Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso added singles for Chelsea, who scored all of their goals in the first half to put the game away. Hazard and Morata were constant threats for Chelsea, who will travel to FK Qarabag on Wednesday, and then they’ll travel to Liverpool on Saturday in the marquee matchup of the week in the English Premier League.

4. Tottenham

Last Week: 3

EPL Title Odds: +2800

Tottenham fell to fourth in the table as they lost 2-0 at Arsenal in another edition of the North London derby, and they never looked like winning this game. Tottenham has a few players that are banged up right now and on Tuesday, they’ll head to Borussia Dortmund to play in the Champions League, then return home on Saturday to host West Brom. Tottenham has a lot of work on their hands to balance winning and keeping their players healthy as Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris are either playing hurt or out completely.

5. Liverpool

Last Week: 5

EPL Title Odds: +5000

Liverpool is fifth in the table and remain in the mix after a 3-0 win at home over Southampton in which Mohamed Salah continued his fine form with two goals, while Philippe Coutinho also scored for Liverpool. Their week will have a visit to Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday, along with their massive meeting with Chelsea at home on Saturday, and Liverpool have been playing very well as of late, but they have to keep their foot on the gas.

6. Arsenal

Last Week: 6

EPL Title Odds: +6600

Arsenal is sixth in the table and are hanging around after their huge win over Tottenham, getting goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez. It was a complete team performance from Arsenal and you wonder why they can’t play every game like this as they were clearly up for the task against their biggest rivals. This week, Arsenal will visit Cologne in the Europa League on Thursday, and then head to Burnley on Sunday.

7. Leicester City

Last Week: 7

EPL Title Odds: +150000

Leicester sits 12th in the table after their loss at home to Manchester City, and even though they might have deserved a man advantage due to a foul by Vincent Kompany, they probably still would have lost because City is simply that good. Leicester needs to have some success over the next month or so as suitors are going to come calling again for Riyad Mahrez, who stayed after the summer transfer window, but a move somewhere in January is likely. Leicester will head to West Ham on Friday for their next match.

8. Watford

Last Week: 8

EPL Title Odds: +200000

Watford continues to impress as they’re eighth in the table after a 2-0 win at home over West Ham as Will Hughes and Richarlison found the back of the net, while Heurelho Gomes also played a big role with a couple of nice saves to keep Watford in the match. Watford will be on the road in their next game as they head to Newcastle, looking to stay in the top half of the table.

9. Southampton

Last Week: 9

EPL Title Odds: +200000

Southampton is 14th in the table after their loss at Liverpool in which they were simply outclassed, and they need to find someone who can score goals in the English Premier League. They have nine goals through 12 games, which is more than three teams and puts them level with West Brom, and no matter how good your defense is, if you can’t score in this league, you’re going to have a tough time of it. Southampton will host Everton on Sunday.

10. Everton

Last Week: 10

EPL Title Odds: +200000

Everton is 16th in the table after a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace as Leighton Baines scored from the spot, while Oumar Niasse tied it up in injury time of the first half. Everton are apparently going to go for Watford manager Marco Silva very soon as they’re looking for a permanent replacement for the departed Ronald Koeman, so that is something to watch as they get ready to host Atalanta in the Europa League on Tuesday, and then they’ll visit Southampton on Sunday.
