Final Blind Auditions on The Voice

The Voice

This is it! It’s the final blind auditions on NBC’s The Voice — Team Adam needs 2 more artists, while Team Alicia, Team Kelly and Team Blake only need one more member. There are no more blocks to be used. Let’s get right to it.

Genesis Diaz, 19, Miami, Florida: With a Cuban background, Genesis talks about her family’s leaving Cuba and coming to America. Like most contestants, she just talks about one chair turning. Her audition is with “Praying,” and I love her voice only seconds in. She really has the entire package — look and sound. With only seconds left, both Blake and Adam turn around. That one had me a bit nervous that nobody was going to turn around. Genesis picks Team Adam.

Sharane Calister, 24, Des Moines, Iowa: She talks about her parents dealing with substance abuse and how she and her twin sister had to live with their grandmother, who got sick and couldn’t care for her. When she was 10 years old she was adopted, but her sister wasn’t. She walked into high school five years later and saw her sister. She’s currently a security guard who is allowed to perform when she needs to. She’s auditioning with “Make it Rain” and all coaches only have one person they need to fulfill their team. Alicia turns her chair. I have no idea why Alicia would tell anyone else to press the button and compete against her, but she’s doing it. Kelly succumbs to Alicia’s pressure — are they not cute together — and presses the button. Sharane is Team Alicia, whose team is now full!

Dallas Carolina, 17, Santa Rosa, California: she was named after “Dallas” an Alan Jackson song. She’s been writing music and singing since she was eight years old and decided she wanted to be homeschooled to focus on her career. She talks about the wildfires that hit her hometown area. She’s auditioning with Willie Nelson’s “Always on My Mind.” Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine turned around immediately. Blake follows a few lines later. Dallas chooses Team Blake, who is now full.

Allen Pride Bowser: “Learn this and stop getting into trouble,” said his grandma to him. He had a rough patch, but turned his life around. Unfortunately, she has stage four cancer and just completed radiation and is home watching. (Pass the Kleenex please?) This dude has the look and has the old soulful sound to his voice. He’s awesome, but only two chairs can turn around — Kelly and Adam. If you ask me though, the only complaint I have is that his outfit reminds me of the Brady Bunch when they performed on the show together. What do you think?

Unfortunately, nobody turned around — why, oh, why?!

Jackie Verna, 22, West Chester, Pennsylvania: A self-professed country pop singer, she really wants to be a cheerleader but got in a car accident. Her face was seriously damaged and she had a head injury. It also affected her self-confidence. She’s auditioning with “Peter Pan.” Adam turns around immediately. Kelly doesn’t turn around so Jackie is Team Adam. Adam’s team is full!

Okay Kelly, it’s all down to the last spot on your team. Next up is:

Amber Sauer, 35, from Paradise, California: She was a backup singer for Natalie Cole and talks about her adoption and how her sister was together with her mom. She felt unwanted. She also met her biological sister. Now she’s ready to step out as a solo artist. She does her own rendition of “Shape of You.” Does Kelly turn? With seconds left, Kelly says “yes” and pushes that button. Amber cries, but she’s Team Kelly!

And there you have it ladies and gentleman, the teams are full. Next week, we go head to head.
