Machida vs Anders Odds For UFN 125

Machida vs Anders Odds

Machida vs Anders Odds For UFN 125 – The UFC is in Brazil this weekend for UFN 125. The card features Lyoto Machida vs Eryk Anders in the main event spot and most of the show is set to air on Fox Sports 1.

Machida is a former light heavyweight UFC champion and at one point, he was on everyone’s pound for pound list of top fighters. Unfortunately for Machida, that was back in the 2009-2010 time frame and the calendar tells us that that is now 7-8 years ago. After a loss to Phil Davis at 205 pounds he dropped down to the middleweight division but that change has not gone his way. Since then he has gone 3-4. In his defense, he has faced Luke Rockhold, Yoel  Romero and Chris Weidman, among others so he has fought the cream of the crop in the division.

That leaves the Brazilian veteran far from the title picture. Here, he is working as a doorman, as Anders is in a step up fight. Anders is 10-0 as a pro and he has gone 2-0 with the UFC so far but this will mark the first  time he is leaving the United States to fight. Perhaps the Alabama native will not feel the pressure of fighting in Brazil. Anders finds himself favored in the fight despite being in hostile territory. Machida is now 39 years old and a loss would give him a four fight losing streak. Warning, we may be seeing the last UFC fight of Machida’s career here.

Bantamweights are holding down the co-feature spot as Jon Dodson takes on Pedro Munhoz. You have to feel a little bad for Jon Dodson. He is a high skilled, entertaining little guy who has fought most of his career at flyweight. Unfortunately for him and for the rest of the weight class, Demetrius Johnson is the champion and everyone falls short. His move to bantamweight started off with a split decision loss to Marlon Morales and he is not catching a break getting matched with Munhoz.

Munhoz is 15-2 overall and despite his nickname of “The Young Punisher” he is 31 years old and on a four fight UFC winning streak. That means that his time is now and picking up a win over Dodson would help him keep moving up the rankings.

A ladies bantamweight bout is also on the main card as Priscila Cachoeira faces Valentina Shevchenko. Shevchenko is 14-3 overall and is coming off a split decision loss in a title shot against Amanda Nunes. Cachoeira is making her UFC debut but she sports a 8-0 record as a pro. A win over the experienced Shevchenko would give the Brazilian fighter a huge win in her very first UFC fight. Shevchenko cannot afford a setback here as she has now taken two losses to Nunes. The last fight was very close but she is probably going to have to work extra hard to earn a third fight with the current champ.

Below are the odds for the featured fights of the Ultimate Fight Night 125.
