Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the media following his team’s 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, a result that ended the Packers’ season. The defeat marked a disappointing conclusion for a team that had aimed to return to postseason contention.

LaFleur expressed disappointment in the outcome but reiterated his desire to continue leading the Packers. However, when asked directly whether he expects to return for an eighth season as head coach, LaFleur declined to give a definitive answer. “Of course I want to be here,” he said, adding that the final decision rests with the organization.

The loss was particularly notable considering the long-standing rivalry between the Packers and the Bears. Green Bay held a second-half lead before Chicago mounted a late comeback, scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Despite a final possession that brought the Packers into Bears territory, the drive stalled and Green Bay was unable to reclaim the lead.

LaFleur did not specify whether he had spoken with Packers management about his future with the team, focusing instead on the players and the effort they showed throughout the season. “I’m proud of the way our guys competed,” he said. “There’s a lot of character in that locker room, and I’m thankful for the energy they brought every week.”

LaFleur has served as Green Bay’s head coach since 2019 and has led the team to multiple playoff appearances during his tenure. Under his leadership, the Packers have maintained a competitive presence in the NFC. However, after a season marked by inconsistent performance and a lack of postseason success, questions have emerged about the team’s direction moving forward.

As the Packers enter the offseason, attention now turns to organizational decisions that could shape the future of the franchise. Whether or not Matt LaFleur will return is one of several key questions the team faces in the coming weeks.
