Miami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview

Miami is a significant road underdog in this game and is currently getting 9 points. In order to take the home favorite, moneyline gamblers would currently need to lay down $400 to win $100 back on the Packers (-400). The Dolphins are getting +300 moneyline odds. If one side can create a bunch of points early it’ll create a nice live betting opportunity. Vegas has determined the over/under (O/U) to be 47.5 points.

The Dolphins are 5-4 against the spread (ATS) and have gained 2.6 units so far. The team has posted an O/U record of 5-4. The Packers are down 1.3 units this season. The team is 3-5 ATS and owns an O/U record of 5-3.

The Dolphins have gone 5-4 straight up (SU) in 2018 while the Packers are 3-4-1 SU.

The Dolphins are coming off a 13-6 win over the Jets in Week 9. The defensive unit did its part in the win, keeping the opposition to just 229 passing yards and 80 yards on the ground. Elijah McGuire had a productive day for the Jets in that one with 30 rushing yards on seven attempts. On the offensive side of the ball, Brock Osweiler completed 15 passes for just 139 yards. Frank Gore (53 rushing yards on 20 attempts) led the ground attack. Danny Amendola (five receptions, 47 yards) and Kenyan Drake (four catches, 26 yards) shared the receiving duties in the win.

Green Bay just dropped a 31-17 game to New England a week ago. The defensive unit allowed the Patriots to pass for 331 yards while rushing for 123 yards and three scores. Josh Gordon had a solid showing for New England, recording 130 yards on five catches. For Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers completed 24-of-43 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Jones (76 yards on 14 rush attempts) mounted the running game while Davante Adams (six receptions, 40 yards, one TD) and Randall Cobb (five catches, 24 yards) led the receiving corps in the loss.

Miami has run the ball on 44.3 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Green Bay has a rush percentage of 34.4 percent. The Dolphins have rushed for 103 yards per game and have three touchdowns on the ground this year. The Packers are logging 106 rushing yards per game and have four total rush TDs.

If the results so far this season can translate to this game, then it seems like the Packers could hold an advantage in terms of efficiency in the ground game, as their backfield has produced 4.8 yards per carry while the defense has allowed 4.4 YPC to opponents. The Dolphins have registered 4.3 yards per carry while allowing a YPC of 4.6 to opponents.

The Dolphins offense has averaged 232 yards through the air overall and has 16 passing TDs so far. The Packers have produced 325 pass yards per game and have 15 total pass scores.

Defensively, Miami has allowed 136 rush yards and 269 pass yards per game. The Green Bay D has given up 254.1 yards per game to opposing passers and 119.6 yards per game to opposing runners. Both teams allow similar adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) to the opposition, as the Dolphins have given up an ANY/A of 6.34 to opposing QBs, while the Packers are allowing an ANY/A of 6.80.

Offensively, Osweiler has put up 793 passing yards on the year. He’s completed 69-of-104 attempts with six passing scores and two interceptions. Osweiler has a 6.82 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number is 4.25 over the past two games.

In the other huddle, Aaron Rodgers has completed 180-of-297 passes for 2,256 yards, 14 TDs and one INT. Rodgers’ ANY/A sits at 7.43 for the year and 7.31 across his past two games.
