Monday Night Raw Recap: Getting on the Same Page

Survivor Series is this Sunday, and Monday Night Raw has three huge elimination tag team matches against SmackDown Live. Tonight is their last night to get all their teams on the same page. Also, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar meet face-to-face for the first time in 12 years.

Opening Segment
To kick off Raw, Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley have all of the Raw Survivor Series participants gathered on the stage. Instead of pitting everyone against each other, they decide to actually have teammates work together throughout the night.

Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Kevin Owens & Roman Reigns
This is the first match of many that Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon scheduled to get unlikely teammates on the same page. Cesaro and Sheamus have been trying this for weeks, but this is the first and only time that Reigns and Owens team up before they face SmackDown Live’s squad.

Sheamus hits a Brogue Kick on Kevin Owens, then Roman Reigns spears Sheamus. While both men are laid out, Reigns drags his partner onto Sheamus for the pinfall. Winners: Kevin Owens & Roman Reigns

Bo Dallas vs. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn is facing SmackDown’s Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship (or The Miz if he wins his rematch tomorrow) at Survivor Series, but Bo Dallas bo-lieves that he should be the man representing Raw in that match. This match against Zayn is his chance to prove it.

Zayn quickly disposes of Dallas with the Helluva Kick, and builds momentum towards perhaps the biggest night of his career. Winner: Sami Zayn

The New Day vs. Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, & Braun Strowman
While Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns were able to pick up the victory earlier tonight, it is seemingly impossible for Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman to get on the same page.

Braun Strowman takes out Kofi Kingston and Big E at ringside, then he hits Xavier Woods with a running powerslam for the win. This means that all of Raw’s men’s team has win tonight. Winners: Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, & Braun Strowman

Even though they won, Seth Rollins hits a Pedigree on Chris Jericho after the match.

Brian Kendrick vs. Sin Cara
If Brian Kendrick loses the Cruiserweight Championship to SmackDown’s Kalisto on Sunday, the title and the entire division will move to Tuesdays. While some members of the Cruiserweight Division want to stay on Raw, Sin Cara is in support of his former tag team partner and hopes that Kalisto dethrones Kendrick.

Kendrick twists the mask of Sin Cara, and locks in the Captain’s Hook. A disoriented Sin Cara has no choice but to tap out. Winner (via submission): Brian Kendrick

In-ring Segment
In 6 days, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg will face off in a WrestleMania 20 rematch. For the first time since 2004, both of these men will meet face-to-face. As a precautionary measure (that probably won’t work), Mick Foley ordered a high level of security to separate the two.

After Paul Heyman insults Goldberg’s family, Goldberg attacks all of the security, leaving the ring wide open for Lesnar. Instead, Lesnar walks away and waits to take on Goldberg at Survivor Series.

Charlotte & Sasha Banks (w/Dana Brooke) vs. Nia Jax & Alicia Fox
Other than Bayley (who is on commentary for this match), this match features all of the women representing Raw this Sunday, including alternate Dana Brooke. Both of these teams consist of two women who have no ounce of love for each other, so forcing them to work together could help their efforts when it matters.

Sasha Banks and Charlotte fight each other during the match, but they manage to work together just enough to allow Sasha Banks to lock in the Bank Statement on Alicia Fox. Winners (via submission): Charlotte & Sasha Banks

Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson vs. The Shining Stars & The Golden Truth
All four of these teams are joining The New Day on Sunday against SmackDown, and this match means that at least two teams are going into Survivor Series as recent winners. A win is much needed, since SmackDown’s 10-man team is pretty stacked.

The Shining Stars and The Golden Truth have some miscommunication, so Gallows and Anderson take advantage by hitting Primo with the Magic Killer. Winners: Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson

In-ring Segment
Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley invited SmackDown’s Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan to “enemy territory,” and the heads of the blue brand accepted. Stephanie McMahon brings down Team Raw to attack Shane before the match on Sunday, but SmackDown’s team showed up to provide backup.

A brawl breaks out (of course), and it ends with Roman Reigns throwing AJ Styles onto his teammates at ringside.
