NFL Week 8 Opening Odds Report

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Week 7 of the NFL season will conclude on Monday night when the New York Giants visit the Atlanta Falcons. However, we’ve already got the Week 8 opening odds up on the board. Let’s take a closer look at the lines:

Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans

Opening odds: Texans -7

The Texans started the season 0-3 but have won four straight games. This looks like another winnable one as the Dolphins have been struggling without Ryan Tannehill in the lineup.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (in London)

Opening odds: Eagles -2.5

The Jaguars have become a complete mess as they were blown out at home by the Houston Texans last week. They even benched quarterback Blake Bortles. But the Eagles have their own problems too as they blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead at home to the Carolina Panthers.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

Opening odds: Steelers -7.5

Things just keep falling into place for the Steelers. They beat the Bengals entering their bye week to cut into their lead in the AFC North and then saw the New Orleans Saints go on the road and beat the Baltimore Ravens. Now the Steelers host the Browns, who have struggled the last couple of weeks.

New York Jets at Chicago Bears

Opening odds: Bears -6.5

The Bears positive 3-1 start has been flushed down the toilet as they’ve lost two straight. They don’t look like a playoff team right now but a visit from a rookie quarterback might get them back on track.

Washington Redskins at New York Giants

Opening odds: Redskins -1

The Redskins barely escaped with a win over the Dallas Cowboys last week. As ugly as it has been for this team — and the entire division — the Redskins are the top team in the NFC East right now.

Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions

Opening odds: Lions -2.5

They aren’t getting much credit but the Lions have won three of their last four games. Their offense has averaged 28.3 points per game in that span.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals

Lookahead Line: Bengals -6

The Bucs (barely) got a win at home against the Cleveland Browns last week. Unless they find some solutions in their running game or defense, they’ll have a tough time on the road.

Baltimore Ravens at Carolina Panthers

Opening odds: PICK

The Panthers shocked a lot of people with their fourth-quarter comeback in Philadelphia. Now they’ll face another stiff test against a quality Ravens team.

Indianapolis Colts at Oakland Raiders

Opening odds: Colts -1

The Raiders opened as a favorite but now they’re the underdog. Even off of a bye week, few people have faith in this squad — especially now that Marshawn Lynch is out.

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

Opening odds: PICK

The Cardinals beat the 49ers a few weeks ago when San Francisco gifted Arizona five turnovers. The 49ers haven’t been able to stop turning over the ball since. If they can cut those out, they should be able to win.

Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Rams

Opening odds: Rams -10

The Rams are still undefeated and will face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this week. The Packers will be coming off of their bye week.

New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings

Opening odds: Vikings -1.5

The Vikings have won three straight and are starting to look like one of the top teams in the NFC. However, those three wins were against teams with losing records. We’ll find out more about Minnesota when they host the Saints this week.

Other Opening Lines

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills

Opening odds: -13.5

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

Opening odds: Chiefs -8.5
